  • running a power wire

I have been told that there is a whole in the firewall you can run your power wire through. I was wondering is it hard to find? I ran a wire before but i have it ran through the door and now I want to run again because the first time i did it it was for door speakers and only used 16 gauge. Now I have subs so I am ogin with 4. Is it rughly where the cluth would be if you had an stick?

I couldn't find a hole to run it through when i was running my wire. I'm currently running 4 gauge, i just looked in the engine bay, and in the car, and found a spot that is clear of fuel lines, and does not have a major source of heat close, by. Wasn't too bad, i've had to run wire in much worst. Well good luck and be carefull!!!!

i have 4gauge power wire as well. the hole is behind where the all the PCM wires and junk are on the passanger side of the engine compartment. if you pull your carpet back on the passanger side, you will find it. i just took a coat hanger and straitened it out, then stuck it through and in the engine compartment i just twisted the coat hanger aronud the wire and then carefully pulled it back...then i just ran my wire down the passanger side of the car under the door trim that holds the carpet.... you'll have to remove like 4 philips screws....hope that helps ya

Out of curiousity is there also a whole on the drivers side. Someone told me there was a whole by where the clutch would be. I wouldn't mind using the passenger side but them I would have to run my rca's on the driver side and that seems like extra work.

i just ran everything, RCA's, Power and remote wire all down the passanger side, it made things a lot easier, plus the battery is on the passanger side, so it's a whole lot easiler and uses less wire/less of a clutter of wires under your hood

they say it isn't good to run the RCA's near any power source.

i've always ran all my wires together just so it's cleaner, i can see how the current could possibly be a problem, or why "they" say you shouldn't, but i've never had a problem with it for what that's worth....

Its all clean, the way it should be done "under the carpet"

I basically did what Matt and the others did except I dropped my passenger's inner fender and ran the power wire along with the engine wiring harness that I had hidden previously. (wish I would have ran the power wire back then). Then I ran the power wire through the same pass side firewall grommet.

I wanted to hide as much as possible and this was the best was as the battery is on the pass side as mentioned above. Plus if you remove the battery there is plenty of space to mount the fuse block for the amp wiring to where is accessible if needed but yet hidden out of plain sight.

There is a current major competitor who has proven the wires needing to run on seperate sides is a myth (he finished first this year and has them bundled together) if you run a good twisted pair it is no problem (keep in mind your car body is a large wire since it's the system ground)
