Well for the phone with internet I believe you could use the VOIP (voice over internet protocol) if you have internet installed.

One thing I forgot to add, we'll be running the HVAC controls through the computer as well. Max already has experience with this so it shouldnt be a major hurdle.

While it's an interesting idea, it's also one of those "KISS" situations. People would much rather reach out and turn a dial for HVAC than press a button on the touchscreen to exit out of their mp3 player back to the main screen, then press a button on the main screen to select HVAC, and then scroll or press buttons to raise or lower the temperature of the car. That's massive amounts of time with your eyes off the road compared to reaching out and turning it to what you want, which some of us can do without looking.

The difference is that its meant more to be a "this is what we can do with technology" project.

Heck..back in the mid-late 80s' Buick had a touch screen setup in I think it was a Regal that had the radio and HVAC all tied into it as well as some basic car functions. I tried a used one out and thought it was neat at the time and had never seen one before. It did look like it would get old fast having to use a touch screen to get to everything, especially in the winter when you're wearing gloves.

the other issue (one that the head unit manufacturers are seeing now) is touch screens tend to get scratched up, and lose their ability to see.

We will be considering the ups and downs of touchscreen vs LCD with buttons.

Good news is though we met with JE Hertel (one of the Enterprise co-ords) this morning and the ball is rolling. We now have a meeting with the head coordinator to get an advisor and sponsor(s).
