Alright, I took a trip out to Monroe yesterday, and my amp cut out about halfway there. I figured it was just a blown in-line fuse, so I just kept on trucking. . . Get out there, don't get a chance to see whats wrong, have to drive the hour home without a working amp. Went out to look at it just now, and it looks like one of my speaker wires in my Pioneer Bass Cannon popped out and shorted to the other wire. Is my amp fried, or did I blow all the subs? The amp is a 900w Rockford Fosgate, the subs are Cerwin Vega 10's (x2) and one Pioneer Bass Cannon sitting in the center of the back seat. They are all wired the same, bridged across the 2 channels of the amp. The light on the amp saying that it's on is still on when the stereo is on, but I don't get any sound from the subs connected to the amp. . . Did it fry? The Pioneer has really thin speaker wire hooking it to the amp, the CV 10's have heavy guage subwoofer wire connecting them to it. . . No fuse in the amp itself, and the in-line fuse under the hood is still fine. . . HELP!!!! I really don't want to have to replace this amp, it's a great amp, and it's been great to me. Any way to find out or even fix it?

Yea i was wondering the same, but i just went with what he saidOriginally posted by GETGONEHow is there not a fuse on the amp? EVERY amp I have ever seen even cheapo ones have a fuse on them. Normally if you short out the wires it will blow the fuse or if the amp is unhooked and left without power for a bit then reconnected it should reset.

Alright, I might as well check all of that before I crack open the amp, I think there are 2 outputs on my stereo, and there were 2 RCA cables ran to the back in the T-Tops storage area, so I could just hook up another cable to the other output on the stereo. . . Probably wait to do that until tomorrow. The amp doesn't smell like melted electronics like every other fried amp I've had, and the subs dont either, so I think it's probably something like a RCA cable or something.Originally posted by Keego Ridaha similar thing happened to me before also, check your remote line to see if its still hooked up or your RCA's, some how i melted a pair of Monster cable RCA'sNick H.

Nope. . . Nothing. The remote cable is working, I said it comes on when the stereo is on. The RCA's are fine, I just tried one I know to work, and still no results. Come on, I know it's something simple. . . What else could it be? The amp is receiving power, I know that because the amp comes on when the stereo comes on, the stereo is what controls it. . . No sound from the subs though. Is it possible that I fried the subs? I really hope not, because they cost me a total of $240. . .Originally posted by Keego Ridahyep the RCA cables there's and then wherever you ran your Remote line toNick H.

Yeah did you check the in line fuse by the battery and then the one in the amp itself?

The one by the battery is fine, there isn't one on the amp itself. . .Nick H.

There should be a blade type one or even a small glass. What kind of amp is it? The amp should have a fuse to protect itself. If it has no fuse at all I'd almost think it was the amp instead of the subs.

Yeah, ok. . . My V6 is all kinds of fast. . . NOT!!! I can't go much longer without my loud bass! No fuse in the amp, but there might be something inside of the amp, I haven't attempted to take it apart yet. . .Originally posted by Insomnya3AMRip out your sound system.

Yeah, that was what caused all of this. I put the wires back where they were, and nothing works. . . I'm not just some idiot that bought the car this way, I wired everything myself, so I know how everything works. . . It worked fine before, and I think the amp is toast. . . I actually traded somebody a D/A for the amp, and I think this is a great amp, so I might just pay to have this one repaired, if possible. . .Originally posted by Keego RidahDid u check to see if the speaker wire came out of the speaker in the box?Nick H.
