don't forget to check the sponsors for radios, and I can get antennaes also. CB's lost favor because they are kind of like a pager out of date technology, most people who want to talk are ham's

I have a HAM radio license. I took a science projects class in high school and earned my license so I can use a HAM radio. Call sign is KC8VBO. lol.

never really used the license though after the class cuz the radios are like 100 bucks and I have no use for it.

Anybody know anything about an antenna that I can either mount inside of the car, or a small, almost unnoticeable one to mount outside?

by the way head out on 94 and stop at a Travel America truck stop if you want to pick up a CB fairly cheap. i got a small cobra that is about half the normal size for $50 i think. i use a 2 foot rubber antenna, it works well for short ranges. but would have plenty of range for cruising

I'm going to buy one at my new job, I think they have quite a selection of electronics stuff there. Will that kind of antenna work well if I mount it inside the car?

Can HAMs talk to CBs? Is HAM popular on the road now?

IDK, but I know you have to have a license to operate a HAM radio, and you don't to operate a CB. CB's are also cheaper than HAM's too. I think we should all get a CB in our cars, whether it be a handheld, portable unit or a vehicle mount unit. Here are some pics of my setup. The wiring isn't permanently set yet, I still need to drill the hole in my console. You guys like it? There is a 4' (I think) whip antenna in the back, next to the woofers and amp, bent forward so that it would fit under the hatch.

yes you need a license, but they can also operate at a ton more frquencies, and different power levels (get caught with more than 12 watts with a cb and get a fine a friend of mine in Lapeer when I was in school spent 6 months in jail) Heck 3/4 of yellow freight drivers I know (I've met a couple hundred through my father in law) don't even have a cb they are all hams, and think anyone with a cb is a lowlife. If you want a good cb get the 29ltd even with a light up face https://www.shop.clarityelectronics....productId=1121
                        or standard under $100 https://www.shop.clarityelectronics....productId=1116
I checked on the neon one, and it is not available from my distributor anymore, they have the highest failure rate of any cobra product (they are really cheap from what the rep said they had a dealer cost around $15)
