As for connecting the screen to the motherboard you can buy or nmake extensions very easily.

You can, but I've read VGA cords being over 10 feet leads to degradation. Actually one of the cool technologies that I like is the VGA to cat5 adapters. Then you can have a lot more cat5 between the adapters to really extend the VGA connection.

I'll be making a custom case for whatever monitor I get anyway. . . All I really need is the screen and what's left of the bezel you made. This one I won't feel bad about taking out of the case to do it. It will help to motivate me. . . lol

FWIW, I just installed a 50ft vga in or confrence room at work, seems fine to me. BUT I have seen that happen with cheaper cables.

Really? Damn that's 5x longer than I thought it could be extended.

I bought it from firefold.com they have EVERYTHING, and so cheap its unbelievable. I was very worried the first time I ordered about my stuff not coming, but it came quickly and I have since ordered several times.

I have used a 150foot VGA cable with no problem before either, used it at the skill center i went to.

150' VGA cable would be great if you needed to wrap the cable around the car 100 times before attaching it to the monitor. . . lol

lol well in that case you can mount your pc anywhere and just run the vga cable to it.

that depends on the quality of cable brian. Since i work with this stuff everyday at work, ive observed there are some differences in the cables. some of them are only 14 pin cables, where pin 13 (horizontal sync) is removed. We've had a lot of problems running the 50 foot 14-pin cables to our overhead projectors because it causes some pretty substantial shadowing. But when we replace them with 15 pin versions it pretty much eliminates the problem altogether. And then beyond just the different number of pins, you can literally eyeball the quality of the cable... if it looks cheap, it probably is. I never realized what kind of difference a VGA cable could make until i started comparing them on a nice new projector.

X2 Joel, quality is EVERYTHING, this 50 footer we have is FAT and 15 pins, and at 50 ft the image it produces is 100x better than a cheapie 6ft extension we bought for when we were in a pinch.

well whatever, it doesn't matter to me either way... I only need a 3 foot cable.

3 ft cable or 300 ft, a 15 pin is worth having over a 14 pin... if you are concerned about image quality.
