  • Suggestions Ideas for my Sound system

Alright, since most of you guys are younger than me and know way more about it I'm looking for ideas on what to do with my car radio/system. Right now with the exeption of my JVC cd player its factory. First thing is I have a speaker out in the passenger door. I have till july on my GM warranty to have it fixed. But, I also would like to upgrade the sound a little bit and add a little bump. Just a little. I have 2 6" infinity speakers I've never used and an amp and a 10" sub. The only place I can come up with to put it without hacking up the car or setting it on the cargo space in the hatch is in the back to the right of the t-top holder there is a little ledge before you get to the panel that the spare is behind. Having t-tops I need to keep the back compartment available for storage. Any ideas that are inexpensive or other places I can set it up? I don't want to use the back deck, its to valuable for luggage for long trips. Thanks for the help.

Subthump.com would be your best answer, probably.

i posted a few ebay links on another forum... if you already have the speaker and amp they have a custom box for that right cubby "spare tire" space for about 50 bucks besides that you will probably pay a bit at a local shop for it from my experiance they dont keep them in stock and eaither would build it custom or order it.. i got my box on ebay and i couldnt be happier just search camaro speaker box and make sure its a decent box... and that leaves your hatch free of anything... i would do it myself because i miss having that space i might just make a custom box for the left and right side of mine... but that will take some hacking...

Yeah, I would do that too. Right now I have a huge box with 2 10" MTX subs sitting in the T-Top storage area, and I am going to get the side-mount enclosure soon, and I will let you all know how it works out! Good luck with your system, Jasen!

yeah ... subthump (what brain mentioned) would be my first place to look. also i know JL makes a 10" sub with a molded box that fits on the drivers side "cubby hole" as long as you don't have the 10 disc CD changer...because my parents WS6 has the monsoon with 10 disc. and that's where it lives .... but yeah then you could still use the T-top holder. my friend has the JL 10 setup in his 99 TA and it pounds pretty good. then you can also go a little overboard and fill in the whole trunk like i did. i have a hardtop, so i wasn't worried about losing the trunk space.

Thanks for the info guys. I have a friend that has been doing custom stereo installations since HS. He is really good at it so I may have him do it or help me. He knows all the technical shit like how big the ports need to be and stuff. So I'll probably just get some pics and go from there, let him do it.

Should I get the door speaker replaced on warranty?

All I did was hook up a 200W amp to a nice set of 6 x 9s and put them in the back under the hatch. People ask me all the time if I have subs and I proudly say no! I'm not all about the bump in the trunk. Plus that crap is heavy and that kills the speed!!!!

check out my car domain (sig). on one of the pages youll see my setup, I have a 10" in a stealthbox and it sounds REALLY GOOD inside the car because of the way the interior is shaped... you hardly even hear it outside the car. anyway, i highly recommend the stealthbox setup, you dont lose t-top storability or anything.

i wouldn't bother getting the speakers fixed under warranty... i replaced all my speakers with Pioneer ones. they sound much better than the stock paper cone ones!.... but yeah.... anything is better sounding than stock really... you can't really go wrong with aftermarket stereo in my opinion

                    500th post.. do i win a prize???

Well, i got a pair of infinity's I've never used. So maybe I can put them in somewhere, they are to big for the door I think.

are you replacing a monsoon, or a standard stereo?
