Suggestions Ideas for my Sound system

I would recommend one of those JL corner systems. They are expensive but they are good and you will not lose your ttop storage. Also you could probably find a similiar one cheaper. I sacrificed my storage area for a layover sub-enclosure. I like it. Also it you wanted to get really creative you could install subs under your front seats or into the bottoms of your rear seats. A little surgery needed.
I would have GM replace the stock ones. They are under warranty so they are free! so have them put them in. Then take them out, sell them on ebay and put in the nice ones! Free cash dude even for factory stock!

well, not exactly, I bought the car used from a dealer so even though its a GM warranty, I have a 100 deductable. Not sure if they are worth that. I don't think I have the Monsoon either, cause even when that speaker works the sound isn't that great.

Ah I see. Then screw it. You can buy a nice set of speakers for the cost of the deductible!

Well back to the drawing board. You have three options for your subs: T-top storage overlay, Corner sub box, or custom underseating system like they made in Pimp my ride or... Have you ever thought about building a sub box out of fibreglass that would completely fill your back seat and make it look flush? That way you still can store your tops, It wouldn't look retarded, and you can set up a hell of a system that you could add without gutting the car and would allow you to remove it when it is not necessary. One flaw is though that if you cant take it out you have no place for that baby seat in back.

Thanks Ang, I'll have to look at the stocker when I'm at my parents this weekend. I haven't looked at that in 2-1/2 years. I think it only made it a week in the car, lol.

Yeah, there will probably be a baby seat in the back sometimes. Plus we take some weekend trips up north like to St. Ignace and stuff and I need all the back for luggage and stuff. So I'm thinkin it will be a corner sub box.

if it doesnt have 6 speakers its a standard. but thats BETTER if you want to mod the thing, monsoons are a nightmare to integrate with anything else.

I was thinkin of upgradeing the speakers in my car, I have one blown speaker. I guess i have playing my music to loud and it could not take it, o well.... If u can upgrade i would go for it.

like I said, that radio is in my dad's barn. I've had a JVC cd player in there since like the 2nd week I owned the car. So I'll have to look this weekend when I'm there. But cool, thanks for the help and ideas guys.

the stealth boxes are the shit..im getting 2 of the..driver/passenger side..dumping my big box..and gonna mount the amp with a amp rack..and thiking about a cd changer ..either wayim sure you will think of something.

yeah, if I had the dough and the ability, I'd get the stealth box for the passenger and the driver side, but I'd need it to fit a 12" each, since I have two 12's. Then I'd get that amp rack that Grand Valley Specialities sells.

Yeah, I'm going to look into the stealth boxes I think. I don't need a lot of bump, just some bass, seeing as I mostly listen to rock.

It is not good if you have the factory amplified sound system. If you want to change out the speakers you will need to re-wire the whole audio system. I have some component speakers with tweeters cut into the door. It is sweet. I have a mtx 6004 amp powering the components. Also I got a mtx thunderform for the corner where the cd changer used to be, which I plan on putting in when my car gets out of storage. I will prolly get a mtx 4001 amp for that sub. I am also thinking about putting a boston acoustics g510 sub inthe stealth box. This is supposed to be an amazing sub that can fit in smaller enclosures ( you cant fit a mtx 9500 or a jl w7 in that box). Anyway this setup is really awesome and if you love audio it is a treat. The drawback is the cost. I had the car rewired which took an audio shop with 5 guys working on only my car 6 hours to do, it was a lot of work.

if you just want some bass, youll be MORE than happy with a setup like mine. ive got a dual-voice-coil JL 10" and that thing freaking bumps inside the car. Im very impressed with it.

Of course, it doesnt compare to the two 12.5" (yes, 12.5"), dual voice coil, aluminum cone, 3" throw, 350RMS GS Redline subs I used to have in my old truck. Those knocked my rearview off, taking a chunk of glass with it. I also made my eardrums cancel a few times with em...not good for my ears i know. If you dont know what i mean by that, picture yourself looking at a subs that are hitting so hard on a particular note that you are feeling it all in your chest... but yet you arent hearing anything. the frequency and intensity has to be just right. Man, i miss those things...
