      Ol' Rock N' Roller

Well, here is my 2 cents, since I have just gone thru this tough desision makin process.

As stated, Black is beauitful, on a show car or a car that is ALWAYS CLEAN. Black is the hardest to KEEP CLEAN. Black is also the hardest to paint without and flaws in the body panels, to stick out like a sore thumb. Black for a daily driver is a poor decision unless you can wash/dust off every other day...

Silver is sooo common, and is number 1 or 2 in sales on all cars. easy to keep clean tho.

Now, on my new project ( see 1970 El Camino Project thread) I settled for a burnth orange metellic, called BRONZE COPPER METELLIC, cause it looks NEW AGE, and goes good with my black vinyl roof and black hood stripes.

Since you already like orange, spice it up a little with the Metellic Bronze vs what you now have and I think you will be happy. I also think your current orange as a base color, you may get away with less detailing in those hard to get into places if the last paint job was done right. And should be easy to keep clean.

If you're doing black you DAMN WELL better have your bodywork PERFECTLY SMOOTH or you'll see every dip and wave and ding in it! I'm so sick of my black car right now. I wish I had a barn at my house so I could blow it apart and repaint it! I polished the heck out of it for Autorama and it's still got some small scratches/swirls in it. I need to go over it with the buffing wheel and compound to try and get it out. I thought I had always taken good care of the paint too but it just builds up and gets uglier over time. Do an orange/black or orange/silver two tone to break it up some.

I think if you do the body of the car orange, and the T-top bar and pillar black with black mirrors and black headlight pockets, and then a black powdercoated grill (the horizontal bars one) you'll have teh sex.

I like the orange, kind of a rare color.
Then you can put some pearl or metal flakes in it to make it stand out more.

agreed, i think that it would look great with a nice metallic coat so that the orange just screams when the sun hits it just the right way

Well, I think you guys have me convinced. . . B, I have C5 Corvette wheels, not chrome Z wheels. . . lol I noticed that on page 1. . . And as for the 2 tone thing, I was considering doing that for a while, orange pearl on the bottom and black on top, but I also think it would look really good with custom black racing stripes and orange mirrors and roof and everything, with the stripes continued on the roof and spoiler and everything. I was also considering painting the headlight buckets black, but I would also want some headlight and taillight covers, the blackout ones, or nightshades over the taillight covers and painted headlight covers would look pretty cool too. Any other suggestions? I want to get a body kit, but I've been unable to come up with enough money for one. My family is in a very bad financial spot right now, and I've been helping out the best I can, but I still can't rationalize spending $500-$800 on a body kit when the bills are going unpaid. I know most of you can understand where I'm coming from. I never really understood about the whole "Black is hard to keep clean" thing until I bought my black truck. I've always been impressed by black cars because I know black is the hardest to spray right and it shows all imperfections, but I never realized that it was so hard to clean properly, so I think I'll stick with the orange, but I'll get some black CAMARO letters for the back, I want to get a black powdercoated grill like Meissen suggested. There are so many things I would love to do to my car to get it ready for the summer, but I simply can't due to the lack of funds. Keep the comments coming, I really respect you guys' opinions.

Oh yeah, and when I get the money together, I'm hoping to get my ram air project moving forward, and I'm also hoping to pick up some black corner lights.

Why post a Turd gen pic? I have a 4th gen. . . That doesn't help at all. . . lol j/k That's a cool look on that car. I'm not sure, I've been thinking about it a lot lately, and I think the more orange I can use on the car, the better it will look. It's up in the air still, but I'm still really leaning toward the House of Kolor Tangelo Pearl for the primary color, and some black stripes/two-tone ideas are running through my head. Keep the suggestions coming!

still wouldn't base your decision around corvette rims that are kinda boring looking, you'll want to upgrade eventually.
