Calipers

Oh man...you have it this far apart, you REALLY should powder coat them. It's so simple to blow these calipers apart, especially if you have access to compressed air. Just take a small chunk of a 2x4 and place it in the caliper where the pads/rotor reside....now take a blowgun with a rubber tip and blow into the brake line port...pop and they are apart! Just make sure your fingers aren't in the way when you hit the trigger on the blowgun

i guess i didnt think it would be so easy. I have them off the car and all, i guess i could. i wont do the back ones, but i can just paint those.

can you explain how to a little more, just so i know, unless its just that easy. weve got a huge compressor (since my dad is a body man) so thats no prob, and all it takes is to blow it out of there?

what does it take to put it all back together??

also, are there any parts that i shouldnt powdercoat, like where the seals are, or any other parts??

i did mine in red also especially on a black car. but i always say do what makes you happy your the one thats going to appreciate it the most. but my opinion red.

i'm the kind of person that i don't like anything flashy and "look at me"

i like things subtle and not as noticable, so when i did my calipers, i painted the mounting brackets black, and then did the calipers a nice grey color, then clear coated everything, when it was all done, the way the paint and clear dried it looks powder coated (it just has that thick smooth look to it) i really like how they look since it's clean and subtle

Dont use paint!Use epoxy,I think G2 was the name of the 2-part epoxy I used.Gives it that powdercoat look plus it is durable

well, some of you say that the paint gives it the powdercoat look, but wouldnt it be wiser to just tear them apart with a little work and just powdercoat them for real, and put them back together. Im already powdercaoting the rotors, so its not a big deal.

AND its free, and would last long too

yes, if i had the time when i did mine, i would have loved to powder coat them, being at the point you are, i would powder coat them, i'm just saying mine "look" like it and i thought they came out really well.

I think if I was gonna powdercoat em' Id just buy new calipers to get new seals and stuff. so they last as long as possible.
