I think you are putting too much thought into plasti-dip brotha.
Anything you know about painting gets thrown out the window as soon as you start to spray.
You've got to learn as you do.

Yeah, Plasti-Dip is almost like spray-rubber, but paint. It's a different animal.

But he IS correct about getting a clean line. Most folks say you have to peal the tape off while it's still a little wet to get a clean line.

i love the stuff, both wheels and car are dipped. we let it dry then followed the tape with a razor when peeling it off after.

That looks really nice. Every example of plasti-dipped cars that I've seen looked like crap. How thick is this stuff when it goes on?

this was thinned out 1:1 after i got it from DYC and sprayed through a siphon feed paint gun, not sprayed from an electric gun like the pro kit provides. my 4 gallons of dip (2 gal of dip, 2 gal of thinner) cam out to about 16 coats on the car.

Using the razor to follow the tape line would be a good alternative than to have to peel the tape while it's still wet.

I was at lowes or home depot recently and noticed that rust-oleum has come out with a version of their own..
EDIT: and they stock the clear "glossifier now so you dont have to pay an arm and a leg to get clear plasti-dip
