  • Need some suggestions and input....

hello everyone, i need a little advice from some of you more experienced f body owners....on my 97 Z i cant decide what would help the overall appearance more, strip the stripes off completely or leave them and look for another way to improve the look. i just see too many Z's with the same type of stripes and it looks boring. Tell me what you guys would suggest?100_5903.JPG100_5904.JPG100_5905.JPG
    Thanks,
    Stephen

personally I like the mirrors body color. On the stripes its hard to tell if they are paint or vinyl. Those are more of a personal preference

Greg, im not sure what you meant by "The mirrors body color"....can u please explain. As far as the stripes they are vinyl and beginning to lightly fade a bit. Also, with the color of my interior, i am not sure if it would hurt to remove the stripes or look better without them....i personally am not partial to so much red lol but thats why i am asking your guy's opinions....here is the interior.....100_5908.JPG
      Thanks,

Greg is referring to the mirror housings on the doors and that was actually the first thing that stood out to me too. Have those and the door handles painted white, it would clean up the look a lot.

well, after much deliberation and thought i have decided to try and trade my low mileage 97 Z28 for just an LS car whether auto or not. Come on guys, surely someone out there could use a nice clean, well maintained and low mileage loaded lt1 car for a higher mileage ls car.....Huntington WV

I wouldn't personalize a car that I don't intend to keep, may turn away buyers. Let them do the work to suite their needs.

When/if you pull the stripes, you might be surprised what you just did to the car.

Using this as an example, I don't like limo tint. I know I could take it off, but now I have to remove and pay someone to put on new tint that fits my liking...your money just went down the crapper.

If the stripes have been on there for a long time with lots of sun exposure, don't be surprised if you notice a tan line effect in the paint.

there might a tan line, but really good detail person could lightly sand and give the a buff and wax, it will be fine. I though he was keeping this car or is he just cleaning it up to flip ? I read into it as he wanted ideas to make it look better and change it up for himself.

so I personally think you should pull that interior out, specifically the seats and sell them to a member here, named Darren for a fair price. Yup sounds good to me.

I'm just going off what he posted on the f-body craigslist page.

As for the tan line, it will go down all the way down to the base coat. Top coat can be cut and buffed for a nice even shine though. Not sure how white reacts to UV, but the red on the SRT4 is darker. It's bad enough that I want to put the trunk lid emblems back on (previous owner removed them)
