yes its that one is the newer style but can be done with the older style as well. Many people run them that way and many people relocate them in other ways as well. Its all perfectly fine. Just an example.

Darren, running a smooth pulley on the ribbed side of a belt is terrible idea. Also, unless the spring is flipped in the tensioner, you cannot keep proper tension on the belt.

I have a billet low mount conversion set-up that will work perfectly for you. I ran it on my old set-up for years. I made it myself from 6061 billet and polished it out. I'll see if I can find pics of it tonight.

Your making a assumption here that he didnt change the pulley on the alternator or come to another solution. Also I have seen a setup like this (not this one) and the belt was perfectly tight with no play and he spun his car to the moon and back. Just because you wouldnt do it doesnt mean it cant be done and doesnt mean it cant be done correctly. This is just a picture for reference.

Alternator pulley is ribbed, tensioner pulley is not. Running the ribbed side of a belt on a smooth pulley will cause premature failure of the belt.

Just letting it be known, not saying it can't be done.
