  • She's FINALLY going in for paint....

After much waiting, she goes in Monday to get some clean up done and new paint.

I can't wait to see her after....

She's getting Lexus Starlight Black Mica.

Essentially a metallic black pearl, similar to the Ford Tuxedo Black, but with bit more colour fleck in it.

    Pics to follow of course...

With a bit of work, $2k ish. I say "ish" because I added the tonneau covers after he did the original quote, so it might be a bit more for paint. He shouldn't have to do much to the tonneau's, they showed up in primer.

I have a bit of rust-through above the drivers side wheel well, and below the fuel door. Some more bubbling on the rockers below the doors and under the lip of the hood. There are a couple of holes in the in inner rear fender wells as well.

He is putting in new steel where needed.

I just got the door strips and badging off, and got the glue residue off. Those decal remover wheels were SO much easier than using a blade and solvent for that.

Door strips are staying off. I have new S/S badging to go on.

Once she's out and gone to the body guy, I get to bring my daughter's Ranger in and finish it for her. She gets her license in July, so I have to finish the engine swap and get the rest of the crap hooked up and running. At least make it mobile so I don't have to tow it around with the tractor every time I want to move it...

I hope that means your putting Stainless Steel Z28 badges on and not "SS" badges.

So, I dropped her off today. Should have her back in a week or so.

                          Here are the "Before" pics:

I will try to post some pics of her in progress as we go...

It's almost impossible to get a good picture of the colour chip, but here are a couple that don't do it justice.

It's a metallic black pearl that looks just black at 90° angles, but once you move to the side, the rest of the colour lights up...

He is going to do what he can with the jambs without getting too far into it. I told him it wasn't a priority at this time. We'll see what he does next week I guess.

My old neighbour helped me pick the colour as a favour. We were going to choose grey, but it changed the whole flavour of the appearance. I paid him the first installment by cheque, and he let me pay the rest when he is done, on my honour. When it gets back to my shop I will savour the odour of the new paint, and hope it doesn't give me a tumour. I really hope you can see the humour here.

                              I'm being a I know.
