At the very least, I would suspect the EVAP being unplugged is causing the SES light - if not the EGR too. Get someone to do a code scan and see what the SES lights are.- Brian Meissen

I understand turning the fans on earlier via a switch (that's how mine is) but it sounded like it was setup in a way that the switch ONLY had control of the fansOriginally posted by s-10fan262 View Posti am the 4th owner and the 2nd owner installed them..its so u can turn them on sooner to keep it cooler im always checking my gauges and im never that out of it when im driving... but anyway ive always had full control and now they turn them self on high and stay on...
Try unplugging the temp switch connector, on my IROC it is in the passenger side head towards the rear. I do know that if you put the knock sensor plug on the temp switch and vice versa - funny things happen

Fan thresholds:
These are the engine coolant temperatures that the ECM must see in order to kick the fans on. For the stock 180* thermostat the fan turn on points are 226 for the low speed and 235 for the high speed. A good starting point for either the stock or an aftermarket 160* thermostat is to set the low speed fan to come on 20* after the thermostat has opened, and the high speed to come on 6-8* after the low speed. It is best to experiment and see what you‘re car likes best. Use the Fan 1 On Threshold (Low MPH) and the Fan 2 On Threshold (Low MPH) for your turn on temperatures.
The Fan Threshold High Speed (MPH) allows you to give the computer a mph value to distinguish between the high and low speed fan turn on points. This gets pretty interesting.
For example, you drive a lot in stop and go traffic and are consistently driving at 35mph and under. You can set your high speed threshold to 35mph and then at every speed under that the low mph fan turn on temps are active, and at any speed higher than that the high mph fan turn on temps are active. That way you can kick the fans on earlier at lower speeds to make up for the lack of airflow coming across the radiator while you‘re sitting in traffic. Then once your at a speed that allows the radiator to see more airflow the high speed turn on temps take control.
Fan Hysteresis Low/High Speed: These values are the temperature changes that will turn the fans off. If you’ve set the hysteresis to 3, then the fans will not turn off until the coolant temperature is 3 degrees cooler than the fans turn on point.

fast bird on ltxtech said ( Fans kick on when an SES light is on. The two go hand in hand. If you haven't tuned out the EVAP and EGR codes, that's most likely your problem right there. ). so i gata plug em back in or get em tuned out. but how would i go about getin em tuned out? the f-body following is not very big here in peoria .Last edited by s-10fan262; November 21st, 2012, 12:20 AM.

The simple thing would be to plug those back in till you get them tuned out. Probably have to rely on mailbox tune for that. Maybe someone on here can post link on where to get that.
Edit Note: I have 160* therm. and have tune set to turn on at 160 for fans Brians red alert and my firebird have never run past the 175 -180* mark even in super hot days in slow traffic. Let the pcm control the fans.Last edited by 98blackbeauty; November 21st, 2012, 08:43 AM.sigpic

$110 plus what it cost me to send to him. I would advise you to send it in a nice box and have him send it back in same with and know he'll charge a little more to send it back. He used USPS smallest box that would fit...and the dang thing was nearly poking out the corners.Last edited by Fish-man; November 22nd, 2012, 09:55 PM.
