I think if you could nail it (with lots of heat insulation in hot areas), it'd look sweet!

This is a cool idea but I don't like people touching/messing with my car, and this gives people a reason to.

A few years ago they had something like this at NAIAS. And you whould have two colors one could be sprayed in any design you want and it's invisible until you heat it by flipping a switch connected to a seat warmer on the backside of the door. So buisness's could display their logo's/designs and still be a dd

That is different, what you are talking about is an overlay over the paint that becomes transparent with heat showing whatever is underneath.

this is totaly different, the paint itself actually changes with temperature

okay yea it was all a little fuzzy to me but cool stuff. It would be pretty sweet to go to school in a black car and drive home in a red one after being in the sun all day

There was a show on the tlc channel a couple of months ago were they had a denali (i think) that had that paint...it was black and when the warmers in the doors were activated the paint would turn white and it also showed a police logo...the idea was a under cover cop car that could turn into a cop car...they had the bottom of an electric skillet pan in the doors to make it happen...here is a link to it...

again someone else mentioned this and that is a different concept, in that video they lay a material over the actual paint that becomes transparent with heat and shows what is underneath. what we are talking about is an actual paint that changes colors.

hmmm im confused now too, from watching the video it did not sound like it but from the discription it did.

guess it is the same technology. my bad

either way it is pretty cool stuff and they proved a way to control it.

Not sure with how it would look since the hood gets hotter with the sun and engine and all. May have a big circle on the hood all the time.

If I heard correctly, I think the Vette, years ago, had a color that did that, but soon found that people didn't like ikt because of the variations while driving, rain storms, hot and cooler weather and such. although, perhaps a good base color would change that. From what i remember, the Vette's was based in yellow and did a sort of chameleon thing.
