Still too soon to wetsand...tried to start today and realized my paper was clogging up quick and the clear is still just a little soft. Probably wait until like Thurs. morning to finish.

There's definitely a difference between Meijer brand gloss black and Duplicolor gloss black...the Duplicolor seems to be better and I can get it cheap enough, at least until late August.

You know what else I realized? Duplicolor's 500' engine paint is even cheaper than their regular paint in the 15oz cans of both.

when i had my white formula, i was rushing to leave the gym to get to work and hit a light pole and cracked the front passenger side fender. I fiberglassed it from the inside of the wheel well and a lil bondo to fill in the small cracks. primed it, rattle canned it, even put some halogen lights near the paint to simulate baking the paint. Could not even tell at all that i had damaged the fender unless you looked from inside the wheel well with the black plastic piece removed.

Ok I finished my wetsanding and polishing yesterday, there's a line there and it's pretty noticeable but not enough to bother me that much, the car's not perfect.

Here you can see the line about an inch above the reflection of my elbow.

Also got some sweet looking blue bulbs for my reverse lights

                  And I hit 100k miles

I think it looks amazing. Im all for cheap fixes. Get some clear on it and enjoy college. Then have it done the right way.

That came out far better than I would have expected. A hint for the future - don't mask off so close to the repair area - just mask off about a foot away on all sides and kind of fan the spray out so it gets less coverage towards the masked area. Then spray your clear out a little farther than your color coat and once you wet sand, the color will fade nicely without any distinct lines.

Thanks guys but I realized a few days ago that I should've wetsanded the color layer before clearcoat just to blend the color in.

When I'm done with college I'll get it painted, in the same color or a very slight variation of it. I think there were only 44 formula's in my color that year, probably even less with the stick.

I'll make sure to get it shot with clear in the engine bay for sure though.
