yea the guy's firehawk is for sale right now, he has TONS of led work on it, he even bought a clear license plate cover for the front and then painted all but the bird and then put a decal on it with a little bit of clear still there, at night the bird on the front of the car would also light up white, during the day it looked like a normal front with an overlay. The back panel is even easier for birds because you can simply remove that black piece, if I recall he even had a step by step howto of how he did it, you may be able to use his wiring techniques and such on your setup.-Derek-

Yeah, he used part of the stock part, but the exposed part was formed out of plexiglass, painted, and epoxied over what was left of the stock part. Very simple plan, but the execution would be rather easy to mess up. . . lol He has one SWEET car, the LED work he's done to it really make it unique.Originally posted by redfbird99 View Postyea the guy's firehawk is for sale right now, he has TONS of led work on it, he even bought a clear license plate cover for the front and then painted all but the bird and then put a decal on it with a little bit of clear still there, at night the bird on the front of the car would also light up white, during the day it looked like a normal front with an overlay. Okay I have the donor part cost $10.00 for it on Ebay and $30.00 in shipping charges which I think is a bit much, since it only came from Witt, Illinois and I am in Detroit Area. But it is only $40.00 for this part so far, I will be keeping detailed info of my work and of course as it comes along I will post photos. I have not decided on lighting yet, But I think I am going to have it lit I think I am going to do hook it up to the running lights, I will see.
Thanks for all the input everyone.

just get a thin piece of plexy 1/8" thick, since that part of the pannel is fairly square i'm sure you could cut out a square of fiberglass and glass in the plexy. Then once you have it all glassed in, buy some vinyl camaro decals and place them on the outside in the correct position before you paint. Then once you lay down your basecoat then peel up the letters thus giving you clear letters on the pannel. Then Lay down a good clear coat over the front and should look pretty sweet. The only thing is that i don't know if you need to rough up the back of the plexy behind the letters in order for it to grab any light. It seems as though i've seen people use plexy and if it's not roughed up on the back it does not show the colored light as well. I don't know well sounds like a great project good luck.sigpic
