  • New hood

well i didnt win the ws6 hood i wanted but i need a hood bad i can barley clear a 2 1/2 inch filter under the stock cowl hood with my intake and it still hits... so eaither i haev to spend a tone of money on a custom drop for the engine or just get a new hood for the car which i would rather do in the first place...

there are a few i like a few i dont need some help choosing one

    http://www.usbody.com/Pages_Cars/82-Firebird.htm

in this one i dont like the regular cowl hoods i think they dont flow at all with the body lines of the car... but im really digging that twin turbo hood.. it has a 2 inch cowl plus whatever else i gain from loosing the frame work underneath... im not a huge fan of the ram air with the 2 scoops... but i dont mind the large single scoop hood ive searched around seen about 10-12 different style hoods for the 3rd gens toss me some links if you find some nice ones but so far im leaning twards the twin turbo hood... unless i see something better.

i dont like the plain square cowl hood the daytona one doesnt look bad eaither although all i can seem to get is a side shot but it goes more with the body lines and has vents down the side...

the twin turbo hood i think i would take the ribbed lines outta the back of it and make it a little more smooth

IMO the GTA hood looks best, followed by a power buldge hood. Since you have to use an aftermarket for clearance the only ones Ive seen that look remotely good are small cowls. Ram air hoods dont look good on third gen TAs because of the long hood. Go with a cowl.

                Heres a couple for ideas....

                Cowl

if you feel compelled to get a ramair hood get the RA I not II, its the LT1 style one, shorter and IMO cooler on third gens.

As compared to the RA II (very out of place looking IMO)

the RAI was the one i was trying to get, but was sold on me. i agree the RAII looks like crap on 3rd gens but i do like that first cowl you popped up no big inverted center line going down it, besides it not linning up with the front clip which you could fix, it goes right with the factory body line down the center... i cant seem to find one like that though.. i wouldnt mind a cowl if it looked that clean..

I like the twin turbo hood, but the last cowl posted looks great too.

i need bigger than 2 im thinking a 3 inch harwood... that looks almost identical to the yellow one in that pic... now i have to decide if i want the steel which isnt as light but will still use the stock hardware... or a fiberglass with hood pins of some sort which is alot lighter and cost 100 bucks less...
