**** you guys. That's the taillights that are CURRENTLY on my car. Secondly, don't even get me started on the "rice" rant. Rice is not something you add to your car, rice is a mentality. Adding a big wing isn't rice, unless you consider the Superbird the ultimate ricer since it definitely wins the ultimate wing. Underbodies aren't rice because they were around LONG before "ricers" were. Altezzas, likewise, are not rice, as aftermarket replacement taillights have been around for a hella long time as well.Originally posted by Orange_Terror

Ut Oh...someones hatin on Brians parts it looks like...my opinion (not that it was asked for but here it is....) i don't like those aftermarket taillights....i think i like brians cause they're tinted and all you can see is the light reflection from it through the tint, and not the actual design of the tails themselves....just my pocket change...lol

Everyone's entitled to their opinion and I ain't going to really say someone is wrong for having their opinion, but nothing gets on my nerves more than an aftermarket mod being called rice.

the superbird wing had a purpose it added real downforce since those cars were designed for racing (they were only built to make them legal for nascar competition)Altezzas were designed for the "sport compact" crowd first. You never saw aftermarket taillights in a car when I was in school (as a matter of fact I don't remeber even seeing them in catalogs back then) rice is making something gawdy, or to make a car slower by adding "performance" parts (I see many 4th gen f body owners do that, and on many car sites they are called ricers)Originally posted by meissen**** you guys. well sorry brian but the superbirds "wing" has functionality as used in Nascar events back in the day..... it worked so well that the car was banned from the series... Altezzas are Rice Brian.... thats why you have them covered up with smoked tail light lenses...Originally posted by meissen**** you guys. That's the taillights that are CURRENTLY on my car. Right, I'm not saying it didn't add functionality. I'm saying the wing itself isn't rice. What's rice is putting a wing on a FWD car and/or thinking just because you put the wing on your car that you're car is going to be faster or such. If someone flat out says, "I'm adding it because I like the looks" I can't call that rice because what's different between him saying he added it because he liked the looks and us changing our hood just because we liked the looks. It's a mentality that's "rice" not the mod itself is what I was trying to get at. Customizing a car was around long before the import crowd made it so popular and mainstream again, but the ricer part comes in when they put that wing on a FWD car or they do massive brake pads on their 4 bangers, such like that which doesn't make sense. If you want to consider adding stuff to your car that's not functional as rice even though it's just for looks, 90% of my exterior is rice. The hood, the bodykit, the rear spoiler, the stripes... guess that's all rice then. If I said "WOW LOOK AT MY FAST CAR IT CAN KICK YOUR CARS BUTT ITS SO FAST OMG!" or crap like that, yeah I understand, but modding your car with aftermarket appearance parts, in MY book, shouldn't ever be considered rice just because it's something that the import crowd does. Like I said, underbody kits were around long before the import crowd used them, does that mean we can't use underbody kits now just because they made them popular again? Hell no, I'm gonna put it on my car because *I* like the looks of it and I want to. Likewise with the taillights, it's an appearance mod, it doesn't denote any performance value or anything of the sort, it's just an aftermarket appearance mod, hence not rice.

Not hating on yur opinion Brian but if you ask the import crowd... like the real import crowd... (DSMs, Nissans, the ones that can be made fast) They will tell you that the Wing is Rice... The stupid looking Dragon front bumpers are also rice in their books... Ive been hanging out with import guys for just about 6 months now so I just catch a drift of whats happening.-08 G8 GT DD: Rotofab CAI, HID's, Breyton Race GTS'

it's rice when the majority of people that do it are ricers. If it's tacky and fugly like all altezzas it's rice. Underbody kits are a car audio thing, but if done where the light shows you need to be run over repeatedly. Ground effects are considered rice for the same reason as altezzas, they were designed for teh sport compact crowd to make their cars look like a faster car. Rice is a style as well as a mentalityOriginally posted by meissenRight, I'm not saying it didn't add functionality. I'm saying the wing itself isn't rice.
