Once the 60 degree days start hittin' I will be resuming my project, first thing on my agenda is to fix the rust in my engine bay, one problem, I have to strip all this black gunk, it is over like a tanish substance that is a bizotch to scrape off. Is there any method for stripping this crap off?

Engine cleaner and elbow grease.
It's not a pleasant job.
WD-40 for the hard to reach places, with a tooth brush.Originally posted by Redd8407I WANT NOISE! SPEED! AN ENGINE THAT SHAKES MY INTERNAL ORGANS LIKE THEY GOT PARKINSON'S! It annoys me more then anything.

I stay away from power washing the underhood...too many important electronic things under there...Originally posted by badinfluence View Postengine degreaser, let it soak a bit and power wash

Be careful with WD-40. WD40 over time absorbs water and the water doesn't go anywhere. I suggest using a silicone spray. It will resist the water and keep the rubber components sealed.Originally posted by 19Xtreme99 View PostWD-40 was designed as a water displacing liquid. so if you power wash it. spray the electrical connections with WD-40 after and that will displace all the water and there you go, a working engine again. haha
