Sorry, but when I see that it immediately reminds me of an El Camino. No thanks.Originally posted by MattODoom View PostI was a fan of the thirdgen notchbacks...
I don't believe that's possible. They should be outlawedOriginally posted by 81DaytonaPaceCar View Postx2...the notchback can look right if properly executed...none of the above mentioned stuff can be properly executed...
The only one I've see that I do actually like I'm not sure if it is a true "notchback" but it is factory on a 71 Vette that a friend of mine has. It looks something like this, only for some reason his looks a lot better than this one.

I think it looks badass with that flat deck lid. Sort of like the old G Bodies or a 66-67 GTO.Originally posted by Orange Terror View PostSorry, but when I see that it immediately reminds me of an El Camino. No thanks.

Agreed, and I wouldn't normally think that, but it just popped in there, and in a way it does. However, look at the GTO, like the pic you posted and this one...Originally posted by MattODoom View PostI think it looks badass with that flat deck lid. Sort of like the old G Bodies or a 66-67 GTO.

The whole car just flows well, its got a long flat nose, so the back matches, on a 3rd or even 4th gen fbody that long flat deck doesn't flow with the rest of the car IMO. But to each their own, I don't have a hatch anymore anyway so I got nothing to worry about, lol.

That's a stock 71 vette...all 68-77 vette coupes have the flying buttress look out the back...Originally posted by Orange Terror View PostThe only one I've see that I do actually like I'm not sure if it is a true "notchback" but it is factory on a 71 Vette that a friend of mine has. Are you thinking a vette with a factory hardtop?

were they really a factory option on 4th gens? if soo they must be really rare. but also to add the black look does make it a lil better lookingOriginally posted by hgffrank View PostI personally like the Notchbacks, and for several reasons, not to mention they are a rare factory option not often found.
1) they get rid of the rediculous rear hatch window that allows everyone to see exactly what you have in the back
2) they reduce the heat from the sun that bakes the interior
3) they probably reduce weight, but I'm not sure on that one.
but certainly the fact they are a rare option could certainly raise the value of a well kept car. I have had a kickin system in my bird and after getting windows broken by thieves I have come to HATE the rear hatch window. Nothing got stolen due to alarm but windows are still not cheap. The notchback would have solved that problem.
Not saying it would look good on any third gen, because it wouldnt, but the factory models are nice and properly done ones look nice.
great photshopping
