  • The Z7D is off for a face lift!

Yup, Bobby from GMMG came by to pick up our Z7D today. You see, Matt decided to do another 15 35th Anniv PE Cars (because Andy Puryear in TX wanted some more, 5 PE cars to be exact, he has over 20 GMMG cars and needed some more I guess) so GMMG and GMHightech magazine got together and are building another 15 35th PEs. Back up a bit, when I was visiting Matt at GMMG in October, I saw his GMHT PE Prototype sitting in his shop, well I had to ask and next thing I know, we have a deposit in on GMHT PE #4! (because we have Z7D#4!!) Needless to say, I am excited and I hope to see our Z7D back soon!

BTW, We decided to stick with the Base package, and maybe if Matt twists our arm enough we will go with the PhaseII package? We'll see.

And Yes, the original 50 35thPE packages were originally designated for the Red 35th Camaros but Two Z7Ds snuck in there and a couple of Non 35ths also got the 35thPE package too. So too will another Z7D get the 35th PE package this time it will be one of 15 GMHT 35th PEs

They couldnt' get enough people to fill the original 50 cars. I'm suprised they decided to do another 15. I guess since it's not limited to just LE cars, more people would be interested. Might as well go for the Phase II car, saves you from sending it back again later!

I am assuming you guys know about GMMG? GMMG Decided to build 50 "35th Anniv Performance Edition" (PE) packages which was an upgraded package only designated to the Red 35th Anniv Limited Edition (LE) Camaros. Take a look here: http://gmmginc.net/programs/PerformanceEd/

For some odd reason (I think it was because of Andy Puryear in TX), GMMG and GMHighTech magazine are going to build another 15 of these cars. The badging and car covers will be the same but a different color. Matt will be using silver backgrounds on the emblems IPO of the Red. Also, there will be some GMHighTech badging on the car too.

Ok makes sence, another question, is there anyway from the outside to tell if the red 35th is a PE or not?

seems like it would be a hell of alot cheaper to do the mods yourself? or is it like a collector thing...idk seems like those packages are alot of money for what you get

im sure that will be worth some coin someday though, and they are one of my favorite camaros!

Wade, I am sure by June of 2005 all 50 PE #s were spoken for. Maybe one or two of them dropped their deposit or sold there PE#s to someone else?

Yeah, I would love to do the PhaseII package but $$$$$ and I know he would have it in his shop a lot longer too. We'll see! But your right, it does save another trip down there and from what I am seeing, if you opted for the PhaseII, you would save $1000 off the base package, tempting if Matt is still doing that deal.

It's a collector/status thing. You can do the mods cheaper yourself, but then it's just a car you modded, not a limited edition conversion car like a Yenko or Nickey.

Yes, there are a lot of exterior cues. The Billet Grille with the SS logo, The signature Black Tail Panel, The "football" 35the Clossenie says "Performace Package" on it, on the LE's, GMMG cut back the front Facia stripes since Matt did not like how the stripes ended in the front from the factory, a flat black inlay for the hood scoop, and of course, the famous GMMG Chambered exhaust will be evident.

I'm not sure the collector premium would be applied to cars done now.

Look at the Shelby Continuation Series and compare those back to the originals from the 60s...is it just going to grey over all the cars built now?

Seems kinda strange they would do it at all with the 5th gens coming out.

They gotta make money somehow till the 5th gens start production! I wonder if they finally go the last Dick Harrell car built yet?
