I talked to Matt Murphy quite a bit this weekend. I did not talk to him about your car specifically because I didn't want to get in the middle of anything. He is a good guy so I wouldn't worry, but I understand that the work is taking way too long.

Matt did have fun cruising around his Berger drag car around at the show!
Wow, Thanks Brian! No problem on posting those pictures. That is the first time I have seen it since it left over a year ago! I can definetly see some of the GMMG flair but it's not "done" like Matt said during the winter.

I know I have been patiently waiting for some time, but Matt's story he told me during the winter seems to be legit so I know he is trying to find another "partner" to finish these cars. I want to hold off until that new partner comes along, I just hope its soon.

Since you talked to him, do you know if he is busy with GMMG work? Is he doing anything with the 5th gens?

Matt said they have to wait until dealerships build up some inventory on the 2010 Camaros before he can do any projects on them. Plus he needs a dealership or other company to partner up on a package.

As far as current projects, I know he is just finishing the last 2002 Dick Harrell edition car!!!! I think that project lasted about 5 years!

From what I gathered from his conversation, he is having an engine builder from Hendrick Motorsports do the engine work for him now? I'm not 100% on that, but he said he is traveling back and forth to Charlotte quite often (which is where I live) so I gave him my contact info and maybe we can meet up next time he is stopping by Hendrick Motorsports.

Sorry I can't help you more, but as I said, I don't know the whole story on your car and I didn't want to get in the middle of it.

Update: Where getting closer to having the Z7D at home

I have spoke with Matt in the last week than I have in over a year. Last weekend he was going to deliver the Z7D, but of course it did not happen. Yesterday, I get a phone call from Angel, I am suppose to call her or Matt's phone, so after work I call Matt. Looks like there are still some loose ends he needs to finish..uggg.

Like I said in the past, Matt was trying to find a partner to work with, well.... he has partnered with Valerie Harrell and the Project will be a Dick Harrell 35th Anniversary Performance edition. Kinda of cool! The unfortunate part is that I will get the car back soon but the logos and car covers will not be done. It seems this project will never get done.

Update: I am 90% sure the Z7D will be home tomorrow!!!

Thanks to Jim Smith for the heads up that Matt Murphy was "delivering a car to Wisconsin this week", I made some phone calls and finally got a hold of Matt's assistance and Matt himself to find out that the delivery to Wisconsin was my car!

At this time, Matt is planning on being at my shop Saturday afternoon (10/10/09). I can't wait and I will surely have pictures if he shows up!!

Its been a long road with many, many phone calls, I hope it will all pay off!

So for all the time and money, if I may ask, how much did it cost total for the conversion. And what all did they do? Eric L

I tell you what. This has been the most stress I have had in a long time. I will keep it short.

10/9/09: No Show from Matt, Matt says Saturday Morning
10/10/09: No show from Matt, Called Matt @ approx 10am, Matt says it will Be Sunday morning
10/11/09: No Show from Matt, finally get a hold of him @ 8pm, I was upset that he didn't call but when I finally got a hold of him he said he had truck issues, he will deliver the Z7D on 10/12/09 after I get out from work.
10/12/09: Txt message from Matt that he was on the road @ 4am. Never heard from him again until I get home and a message is on my home phone from Laura (new GMMG Admin) saying he had "trailer tire" issues in Chattanooga TN and not sure when he will be on the road.
10/13/09 (today): Txt Message from Matt @ 8:30am, (assuming still in Chattanooga TN) "parts needed for trailer repair had to be overnighted, should be up and going in a couple of hours", no communication since.

All in All, the Z7D is getting closer but it's been a long journey. At this time, I can only assume I will have the car tomorrow, we'll see.

seems like such a PITA, he best be giving you a huge discount or something for this crap. Its no wonder Berger decided not to have him do the new Berger camaros..

This seems like a major fail.

I would think that matt berger would have the best of everything, at least an iPhone.
