  • MIFC activities?

It seems like the Michigan Firebird Club kind of lost activity again. I was just wondering for next year would people in the MIFC be interested in hitting up a couple car shows together, park together somewhere on woodward during the dream cruise, do the Back to the Bricks cruise, have a drag strip day, or park together at the MiFbody Meet and Greet. Any ideas?

All of the above! I'd say we should totally group up at the M&G next year, but this year I'm fine if we go do our own cruise somewhere. Is there even any cruises or shows left in the year?

Far as I know, there is no more major cruises and car shows left. Maybe next year we can set up a detailed calendar for next year events and figure out our meet up points. If we do a fall cruise, maybe we can do a group photo of our cars and submit it for the MiFbody calendar. It would be nice to get some shirts, MiFC window decals, and maybe our own calendar.

I wasn't able to find anything about that one online. http://www.mishows.com/car_motorcycle.html and http://www.oldride.com/events/michigan.html?mn=&yr=2013 have a bunch of car shows on them. If any of them interest anyone, post it. Maybe we can try to go to one of the last car shows of the year.

The impression I've always gotten is that the MIFC only exists during Camaro Superfest.

Ouch! Well, as the newly minted (as in the last 24 hours) president of the MIFC, I can tell you there is PLENTY in the works. We are actually having an "officers" meeting in the next couple of weeks to plan out some activities for next year. Our current plans are for a meet and greet style BBQ in the spring to drive membership, give the members a chance to meet each other, and plan for the future. We also have added a second car show to our judging responsibilities, the NEOCC fall classic. So, we will have a spring club BBQ, we want to plan for our own parking area at the meet and greet as much as we can, plus the judging of camarofest and the NEOCC meet, and finally out own F-body show in early October is in the works, with a trunk or treat kind of thing for the kids, plus awards for best Halloween costume. So rest assured, we are under 'new management", and things WILL be changing.

Amen to that. I have a PILE of the old-style MIFC window decals in a rainbow of colors if anyone wants a couple, plus a few of the old-style T-shirts. Old style? Yes, there is a new and improved logo, and I will be getting new T-shirts, ball caps, and decals with the new logo printed up for our spring membership drive. Did I mention that whole new management thing? Also, anyone who is interested in taking a more pro-active role in the MIFC, keep an eye on our forum for upcoming announcements as we restructure with officers who will be able to help promote and grow the club.

No offense meant towards Nick or Ben, but happy to hear there's some revival in the club.

That's awesome Mike, I was hoping that MIFC would become more active. It seemed to halt after October last year and then there was superfest judging and that was it. Nothing really to draw in people to want to be apart of MIFC. IT seemed MIFC was more of a judging committee for a all Camaro car show and had nothing to do with being a Firebird Club.

I would be interested in a shirt or hoodie and a decal.

One thing that also may help a lot is to create a facebook page or see if you could take over the Michigan Firebird Club facebook group. The best way to get out there now days is pretty much and sadly facebook.
It also would be awesome if anyone was interested in cruising down to Trans Am Nationals in Dayton, Ohio next year as a group. I know I plan on going down next year and will be saving my money to do so.
We don't have to meet up all the time on Woodward but maybe the first Friday of Summer months(June-August), meet up on woodward.

Well, in all fairness I have several advantages over Nick and Ben. I'm older, financially stable, and have the love of a good woman to back me up. Lol.That having been said, big thanks to them for creating this club, and for keeping it alive up to this point. I expect to start several threads in the MIFC part of the forum this weekend, once I have a few I's dotted and T's crossed. I'll need help from all of us Bird watchers to pull some of this off, so lets show the Camaro boys that we can do it!

The Nationals are definitely on our radar, as is the James Dean festival and several other shows. Glad to see the interest, I'll see what I can do about getting control of the facebook group, updating it, and starting a calendar of events. Keep you posted!

I tried my best to keep things going, but given my recent promotion, relocation, and the resulting complete destruction of my personal/social life, I have been unable to put the time and effort into this that it needs. As such, I've handed the reins over to Mike. Hopefully he can make something of it, there's not a whole lot to build from. As of right now, MIFC has less than 50 members (I think the last count was 39, but I'll have to check to be sure), no assets, and very little in the way of active participation. I did the best I could with what I was given, and we had 2 events in addition to Camaro Superfest last year. This year, I'm hoping we are able to do even better.

I'm sorry I wasn't able to make more of the MIFC in the last couple years, I feel like I've let all of the members down. Hopefully Mike is able to do a better job than I could.

Best of luck to you, Mike! Can't wait to see what you have in store!

Don't be so hard on yourself Nick, like you and Mike said, you had some time and work-related challenges that made it really difficult for you.

This completely organic demand that's building for more MiFC activity is really encouraging, so at least now if you have an event like a color tour, you should be able to get better club support.

I would do more with the firebird club guess i should say do any stuff since i dont now because i live north and usually just stay this way most of the time. I drive almost 400 miles a day in the semi so wknds i love to drive my car but just tired of traffic and the cost of fuel kills. Cost 120 bucks to go to MIS this summer for the car show. And thzts not counting food and drinks. Or entry.
