I have actually run my fastest time at lapeer, and by quite a lot. I only attribute it to being able to make so many passes to get the technique right. Everytime I go to milan i get a feel for the track just in time for dew to set in or head home.

most of the guys here covered it, the track is IMO a good place to learn if you are a beginner the staging lane usually moves quickly if you have to wait at all and you can make several passes and practice your launch. I'd recommend if its your first time anywhere that after you drive in and pay (aka tech) that you take a seat in the stands and watch a few cars burnout and stage that way you know what your in for. No need to be nervous at all if you have questions most racers are glad to help as well as the staff.

Now if your past that stage and are looking to run your best ET or your car makes a decent amount of power then the track and prep itself may not be attractive to you. Here is Lapeer and here is a "real" dragstrip.

I believe Lapeer did actually hold a few of these events last year. Problem, or the concern really, is that most of the heavy hitters now have cars that are a little too dangerous for the street and with events like NO ET they have chosen to do it at a safer location for racers, spectators, and without puttin other people in danger. Lapeer just isn't better for safety the track itself isn't very good and even has a dip in one lane I sure as hell wouldn't be wanting to race a grudge car on that. There are smoother and more well prepped streets to race on.

we took the chevelle last saturday, first pass off the trailer was a 11.3 his stupid line lock was holding the whole track so it slowed him down a little. they are being very strict now(probably cuz they know someone is gonna die there some day with out the proper safety equipment) but they told my dad slow it down or he was done... its a beginners track forsure. i hate the pits.

And that's what I liked about Lapeer vs. Milan when I went to both years ago. Good bunch of guys at Lapeer willing to share what they know and help ya out.. Last time I went to Milan everyone was so serious and kept to themselves. It was more like, "Learn on your own"

Maybe it was just the day I went to Milan, but it just seemed like nobody wanted to help you...

They told him to slow down at an 11.3! Wow, things have changed since last year. I went a bunch last year, but was never tech'd once. There were guys in the low 10's time after time, last time I was there.

They warned my buddys bone stock C5 vette because it ran a low 13 and was a vert, I know thats the limit but I was surprised as they seem pretty lax.

I just figured for testing purposes if would be the ideal track. If you can get your car to hook at Lapeer, you can get it to hook on ice. Lapeers track prep is rain.

Jeff basically covered it. Milan is the place to go. Lapeer is way worse than the street, and I won't park a nice car in the dirt pits
