engine is getting fired up tomorrow. I was going to do it tonight but had some leaks that I had to take care of during testing of some things. So tomorrow morning I will head back out and finish it up and then flash in my new tune for the new engine.

Any recommendations for engine break in? I have had a few guys tell me to give it a few good bursts up to like 5k rpms to help seat the springs and such.

Also do I need to do anything to prime the oil before initial start up or anything? How about a case relearn with hptuners?

I will finish making the cold air intake after I get it running. Also will need to hook the exhaust up again too. It is open headers right now as I haven't put my ypipe back on yet

Alright, time for some more pics to keep you all happy.

Unplug your coil pack(s?) and turn the motor over till you have good oil pressure.

unless you have some kind of special spring, 5k RPMs is definitely not what you want to be doing right away. Ron at advanced induction told me to fully heat cycle my engine [springs] 3-7 times before doing any high RPM pulls. (and I have read this elsewhere also). When people break springs right off the bat, its usually failure to break them in properly as RPM is typically the only cause of failure for a spring.

I primed my oil pump with the spark plugs and coil wire removed... of course you can get by with just the coil wire. It took me two tries, my starter began to overheat right about the second it got pressure. Definitely a very good thing to do before starting a fresh motor.

I think I am going to just pull the wires off the plugs as they are easier to access then my coils then. Thanks for the advice on getting it to prime

Just pull the fuel pump fuse and roll the motor over for 10-15 seconds, no need to mess with spark plugs wires.....then fire it up. Rings have to be seated under load..ie, road time. Don't let the engine sit around in the garage at idle too much....the cylinder walls will glaze up and the motor will burn oil for the rest of it's life.

well I pulled the plug wires, cranked a few times to build oil pressure up, then put the plugs back on. checked fuel connections for leaks and have nothing. Hear the pump running and fuel press. gauge shows there is fuel at the rails. I go to fire it up and nothing. It tries to turn over but doesn't fire. The starter is turning over but the engine is not firing up.

Any ideas with what to check? I am stumped right now

just makes me nervous as my oil gauge hasn't gone past like 10-15 during the turn overs. Hopefully it jumps to 60 once it is fired as I cranked it a bunch already so oil should be pumping
