Cobra kit car

Good customer of ours, New 650 carb, EVI dyno tune. 351 motor ford crate motor. Made 200hp at the wheels when he came in, and made 326hp when he left!

The carb that was on it was a 600 vac secondary edelbrock carb. The back throttle plates probly never opened up. We switched it out with a proform carb and was able to add some timing. Although this before and after dyno number is not typical it does show what a good combination....or a bad one will do.

I've never been a fan of Cobra kit cars. (Real Cobras, now that's another story!) They're kinda like silicone breast implants, they look good until you find out they're just fake. What's really sad is that when you see a real Cobra now days, people just assume it's a kit car, .......... and that's just wrong.

Nice improvements on the dyno numbers. Getting the tune right really makes a big difference.

they do look cool, but you are right I assume every one I see is a kit which definitely takes them down on the WOW factor and cool scale

If you want to see a real one I know where one can be had. Only sees about .1mi a year around a garage/showroom for cleaning of it and the floor.

Are you sure it's real? I remember my Dad would always tell me when we saw a Cobra, "Nick, you'll probably NEVER see a real one." The ratio of real ones to fake ones is completely messed up. They are really cool cars, and I wouldn't mind having even a kit car, but there's no replacement for the real thing. If you had a real one, though, would you actually drive it?

Out of all the car related events I have been to, I've only ever seen one real one....they are pretty easy to distiguish between real and fake

I have seen a few real ones, the dream cruise brings a couple out per year just gotta know where they are parked, cause they are never ever driven. My uncle had one back in the day...yes a real one.

BTW just a random memory. Anyone watch "pawn stars" There was a guy on there who "found" or inherited I cant remember a shell of a cobra wasnt sure if it was real or fake had an expert look at it discovered it to be real and sold the SHELL for $30K then the guys continued to put $100K into the car and they still made a very nice pretty penny on the sale of the car after it was completed...

Yeah that was awesome. The guy got a call to clear out a warehouse that was being foreclosed on and when he got there he hauled the shell away. He got PAID to haul the shell away, filed all the paperwork with Las Vegas and after 90 days with no claims of ownership he was the new legal owner of the shell and could do whatever he wanted with it. So he got paid to haul it away and then sold it for $30,000.


PS - I <3 Pawn Stars. Big Hoss reminds me of Big Jon.

Yup that was the full story! Haha and yes Big Jon does resemble Big Hoss in a few ways! I also love pawn stars one of my favorite shows out there!
