  • sub frame connector advice

I have been looking around at different brands. What are the differences between bolt-ons and weld-on SFC? Also, I have seen some style that are a round bar, and some that are square. Which is better or does it really matter?
    Any prices and recomendations available?

    Thanks,
    Justin

I have the SLP bolt on 3-point subframe connectors.
You will get different opinions on weld-in vs bolt on, 3-point vs 2-point, and round vs boxed.
I like the bolt in because if you ever need to take them off, you can. Or if you want the weld-in and dont/ cant weld, you bolt the bolt-in in and have them welded at a latter date.
I have subframe connectors from $100.99 to $399.99
This set from UMI is very nice.

I went with the umi bolt in for my car, that is only because i have a convertible and SLP does not make a bolt in pair for convertibles.

If you can weld or know someone to weld them in for you, you may want to go that way because then you dont have to worry about them loosening up.

imo go with SLP bolt in

Question for you; I was going to buy some SFC's last year, but some people said that if your car had high miles, the bolt-on SFC's might not line up right to be able to be bolted in. Is that true? I'd hate to buy one and then have it not "fit".

Has your car ever been in a wreck ?
If I remember (been about 9 years now) when I installed the SLP frame connectors, the hole's where elongated.
The hardest thing for me was trimming some heat shields.

Per UMI, there 3 point requires no trimming of that heat shield.

Since I see your in K-Zoo, I would be willing to help you with the install if you purchase a set from me

A carfax of the car before I bought it showed no reported wrecks. The previous owner put a firebird rear bumper on because apparently it was rear-ended, but I dont know how serious it was. Other than that there's no indication of it ever being in a wreck.

I wouldn't mind having to trim a heat shield, I just pictured trying to get the holes lined up and then having them be off and not being able to bolt them up.

There's a few other things suspension-related that I need to look into before I think about SFC's again, but I will get ahold of you when my budget allows. I'll have to check out your site to see if I could use anything else.

Th ones I've been running for about 4 years now had me make font holes for mounting after hooking up the rear part to the rear LCAs. Then after I bolted it all together, I welded them to the frame. I wanted to say that they are Lakewoods, but, then again, it has been a while. No problems with shields or anything.

I have the UMI ones that ARE going in this year

I bought the weld-in ones be cause I found my car wrecked and I don't want problems lining up holes.
I also went with weld-in's because I have heard of the bolt-in ones coming loose or creeking a lot.

Crieght, Do you have Raer LCA relocation brackets?
                      I need a set
Can you PM me with details, thanks.

I'm going with the UMI ones too. I'm going to get the bolt in, and have them welded in later. I have to contact a frame shop to see how much it would cost to have them welded in. I want to make sure the car is nice and straight before they get welded in.

Anyone know how heavy the UMI ones weigh?
