  • 2022 Michigan FBody Meet & Greet - CANCELLED

The annual Michigan FBody Meet & Greet is finally back after a two year hiatus! 2022's Meet & Greet will be on June 4th, the 1st Saturday after Memorial Day.

We will once again be returning to The HUB Stadium in Auburn Hills! Easily accessible from I-75, The HUB Stadium will be easy for everyone to access no matter which direction you're coming from!

Inside The HUB Stadium is Bombowling, Axe throwing, a huge full service bar, and restaurant! Outside food details are still in the works (regulations have changed things a bit from past years).

Show hours will be from 9am to 3pm. We will target the awards ceremony for 2pm and folks can stick around after the awards ceremony to hang out inside The HUB Stadium afterwards as well!

**As we have done for the past few years, judging at the Meet & Greet will be $10 per vehicle and will be collected at the show. Additionally, we will again *NOT* have Pre-Registration! Show up at the event, have a great time, and if you want to enter judging you can register at the show!

Excellent. And NOT on the same weekend as the Pontiac Oakland Club International Michigan Widetracker's Spring Dust-Off. I have it on my calendar.

In only see on third gen in that photo above, so I feel me presence is needed. Nice brown 2nd gen. right in the front of that photo though!

Yeah, any extra third gen representation certainly would help! Likewise with more second gens - there weren't too many more than that patina'd turd at the show!

Are you going to bring it this year? I'd like to see it.

Ideally! Need to troubleshoot the starter and make sure it's not gonna try and leave me stranded this time.

If I am in town I will bring my 1st Gen, even if it is only a 6 Cylinder, I fixed the drivers side window crank this weekend, what progress!

I'm pretty sure people might find it extremely interesting being a six-cylinder. You don't really see too many of the older ones that people leave that way, it's super cool.

It's my wedding anniversary. If "I" can make it, everyone should be able to make it!

Unfortunately, I have to make the announcement that this year's event has been cancelled.

meissen 's message on Facebook: "Hi everyone - it's with a heavy heart I announce that this year's meet & greet is going to be cancelled. We might plan an alternate get together at Kensington Metro park later in the year like we used to do, but unfortunately there's too many complexities with having the event in Auburn Hills."

Well that's beyond disappointing. I saw the announcement on facebook, but not his message. Thanks for sharing that.

Those with Pontiacs, GMC trucks, Oaklands, Buicks or Oldsmobiles are welcome at the Michigan Widetracker's 33rd Annual Spring Dust-Off car show and swap meet on June 11th.

A pleasant drive to Springfield Oaks County Park in Davisburg brings to a beautiful facility and space for this show!
I hope we see you there!

truthfully, my heart just isn't in it anymore with everything else on my plate (I'm president of my HOA, and also an elected official (trustee / "councilman") for my Village, family, etc.) and I've been dreading all the legwork that was necessary to get it done. I procrastinated, and ran out of time. City of Auburn Hills makes it difficult to get event permits and have a bunch of hoops that need to be jumped through like getting event insurance, documenting the fire rating of my tent, etc. While I was really excited to bring back the Meet & Greet back in the beginning of the year, that time flew by and next thing I knew it was one month away and I hadn't begun any of the process. I reached out to the trophy vendor and the price almost doubled since 2019, which I guess is par for the course with everything else going on these days. I reached out to our special event insurance person asking for a quote and never heard back from him and I didn't have the time or energy to be a bulldog with it to keep following up with him or go to any other vendors. City of Auburn Hills requires event permits to be submitted at least 30 days in advance, and here we are about 2 weeks away and I just had to wave the white flag. :/

I'll be honest - I do feel absolutely horrible about letting everyone down. I was looking forward to it in the beginning of the year, but I just have so much going on in my personal life that has filled up my time in the past handful of years that juggling MiFBody Meet & Greet coordination on top of it with the permits and everything it just became a burden to me and I couldn't find the motivation or the energy to do it.

I thought about changing locations to Kensington Metro Park like we used to have it, but then we have to coordinate food and with only 2.5 weeks there's not enough time to get something set up, reserved, and it LOOKED like Kensington is now requiring event insurance too...

All of that said -- I reached out to the salesman at what was supposed to be our new event sponsor, Heidebreicht Chevrolet in Washington Township, and his immediate response was "Why don't we just have the show here to cut through all the red tape?" Now -- admittedly, it's not as conveniently located, so unfortunately I know it's going to be prohibitive to folks who are traveling long distances to then go to some random dealership. I don't blame them. Joe, my sales guy, talked to his general manager about having to cancel the check to sponsor the Meet & Greet and before HE could even propose "Why not have it here?" the GM blurted it out for him. They both went to Kurt Heidebreicht, the owner of the dealership, and he was immediately on board.

So ... I guess the Meet & Greet isn't ENTIRELY dead, it just might be a date and location change. Right now, tentatively, we're talking June 25th at Heidebreicht Chevrolet. There still might be more to figure out, this isn't 100% certain yet, but it might be possible. Just knowing we have a venue and we *hopefully* don't have to worry about any special event permits.... knowing it's like how Bakers of Milford used to be with just show up and run the show, that gives me hope that maybe we can still pull this off.
