  • Opinions on a GTX I am looking at

    http://www.clubgp.com/newforum/tm.as...de=&s=#3874451

What do you guys think? It is located here in Grand Rapids. I am not a fan of the tan interior, but was thinking I could convert to graphite over time or something as I collect the pieces or something.

The exterior I love, great looking exterior with the hood, wheels, tint, grilles.

Would make a great DD and winter car for me I think

A few months back I wanted to sell my camaro to buy a 98-02? GTP.

But after reviewing the whole situation- worse mileage than my camaro, premium feul, PITA to change rear plugs and I heard they have weak tranmissions.

After considering these thing and recalling it is a 8 year old car. I decided to keep the camaro for another year or two.

Between me and the wife, we've had 4 GTPs, and have had zero powertrain issues. Did have to replace the front wheel bearings on one of 'em twice though.

Mileage was 28 on the highway and 22-23 overall driving.

Have had the graphite interior, and it does get dirty fast.

And changing the rear plugs does suck.

If you can get a decent deal on it, I'd say go for it.

Looks like a nice car. Can't go wrong with a Pontiac!

IDK... I have a GTP, but i jump at the chance to put the GTP up and drive the Firebird.

I would almost recommend something with AWD. That is what i wish i would have gotten for my winter car.

plugs are actually easy to change, ive done it a ton of times on my old GP...the trick is to unhook the dog bone motor mounts and hook a ratchet strap to the back engine hook, then squeeze the motor to the front...tons of room to operate

I know this won't be a popular opinion for some people. If it were me I would buy the GP and drive it in the summer and not in the winter and either sell the Camaro or drive it in the winter. I used to have a Regal GS which is the same motor setup and those things are stupid fast. I had mine running low to mid 13's with basically the same setup as the GP your looking at. I think it is a bit overpriced but definately worth looking at. It also is a GTX which is the SLP performance package. Which is alot more collectible than the Camaro. Just my two cents.

the camaro is never being sold, notice my name

so yea bad idea about selling it. Plus it is faster than the GTX with the two stages of nitrous.

I told you it wouldn't be popular. It was just my opinion.
