WTB: Torque Wrench

Anyone have a torque wrench laying around????

How much are you looking to spend? Harbor Freight has some clicker torque wrenches there, I picked mine up, a 1/2" one that goes to 150 ft/lb, for $15. They are still that price IIRC.

There's one in Waterford/Pontiac area and one at like 15 and Groesbeck, right in the Kmart parking lot. There's lots more store areas that are listed on the site, but I've only been to those two.

I usually get all my odds and ends tools there, they have the best deals around for that kind of stuff. The 3/8" wrench I believe goes from 0-80 ft/lbs, which I figured the 1/2" is better because it has a much better range.

Just remember, you get what you pay for, especially when it comes to tools. If you want a nice torque wrench, I would at least buy a Craftsman if not something better.

Get the one from autozone, 30$ and works just as good as the craftsman i used to have. Plus you can lock it @ a certain tq setting so it doesnt wander by itself.

Well my Crapsman doesn't work. I bought it and didn't really need to use it and when I did it didn't work. And oh, the torque wrenches don't have a lifetime warranty, only 90 days and I was well past that. So I have a useless torque wrench taking up space. Snap On ones are INSANELY expensive. I think the cheapest was like $350 They had a digital one that went for like $2500!!!!

That's just user error I'm guessing....

My Craftsman TW is over 15 years old and still works great and is still accurate. I wouldn't trust anything critical with one of those Chiwan torque wrenches you find at Harbor Freight....you just look at them funny and the chrome plating peels off.

BTW, wade, I'll take the wrench off your hands....that's one nice thing about Craftsman TW's, they are repairable because you can buy service parts from Sears.

My dad's friend has a digital one. That thing is crazy. My torque wrench I got works good, I mean I know you get what you pay for but if you don't have the cash to buy a good one now, the Harbor Frieght ones work just as good.
