alright got my rear axel all done didnt get the disc breaks that i wanted but a beefed up axel that will work fine for a while... now im trying to find a t5 5 speed trans... wouldnt mind the pedals and everything else to put it in a third gen if you have it... have a th400 right now all built up and nice but really doesnt take advantage of what i have in it and i wouldnt mind more top end ... so let me know what you got or if you know of someone that has one.. i need the entire trans bell housing and everything i can get the pedals and dash stuff around here just cant find the 5 speed...

in my opinion u wouldnt want to use a t5 behind a 383 stroker, because it wont last long at all. if its a WC (world class) t5 then u might be able to build it to last, but it will cost a lot of money $$. thats why chevy never made a third gen with a 350 and a manual tranny. i have heard of people putting them behind a 350 tpi and it only lasting like 2 months. i would go with a newer t56 if possible.

i did find a tremec 5 speed for 82-92 for just under 2 grand for the complete trans clutch everything included except the pedals and few minor parts that i can get easy ... under 2 grand rated to handle up to 600 hp so that might work..

even the t56 is a weak trans( a few guys on nastyz28 have destroyed them wth their strokers, and one guy with a 302)

ya ive heard that about the t56 too ... hmm maybe a gear vendor on the th400 would work but not sure if i could fit one under there or not thats only 2 grand new and then i would have a 6 speed auto and the gear vendors are rated at like 1200 hp 1000ftlbs stock just could it fit in that small center channel? i might have to move the seats up more and notch the floor to get it to fit... but a much eaiser solution... comes with a custom drive shaft...

seems like no matter what i pick its going to be 2 grand a built 5 speed man. a stock 6 speed man or the gear vendor... i know the th400 will take the abuse but would like a stick just for the fun... but has anyone seen a 3rd gen running a gear vendor? if no one has it i think i might go that way just to see what it can do... just to be different

didn't super chevy do one, that's the way to go, especially if you plan on racing (manuals are the worst thing on a drag strip)
