  • WTB: T/A WS6 or Firehawk hood

If anyone runs across one of these at a junk yard or if someone around you has one for sale please let me know. I'll see a few on ebay once in a while but they are way expensive and by the time I get to them the auctions are almost over.

    Thanks!

    -Ben

Here is what I am looking for... WS6

Are you locked into it MUST be a WS6 or Firehawk hood? Is aftermarket o.k.?

As I understand it, the only way you'll get a real SLP Firehawk hood is to get one off a junked car. SLP runs your vin and won't sell you a hood if you don't have a Firehawk.

Thanks Ang! I was kind of hoping to spend less than that.

I have no qualms with aftermarket, just focused on price. Would like one for less than $500. I would prefer OEM but wishing for OEM isn't always practical.

Has anybody bought one of these before? I have heard some sketchy things about Ebay hoods.

The cowl induction hood on the SS454 is a custom made ebay hood. I don't remember who we bought it from, but it was custom laid fiberglass, and it fit perfectly. I don't think you'll run into any problems with fit that you wouldn't run into with a stock SLP firehawk or WS6 hood, because no two hoods are the same. Just my $.02

I bought my hood off ebay. Love it, no problems.

In 1997 many of the Firehawks ended up getting the WS6 hoods (lots cheaper to make). The brochure pic you posted seems to be one of these, effectively the same as the other pic you posted of the T/A WS6 hood.

the following is an LT1 Hawk hood:

The principal visual cue is the raised lip around the nostrils/scoops.

I forgot to mention the slight difference in the scoops. On the WS6 hoods, the outer edge of the scoops has the ramped-up ridge, like the center split - and on the Hawk scoops, only the center split has that ridge.

I could not tell from that brochure pic which it was, so I was just trying to help clarify for you.
