  • WTB: 243/799 or other ls1 head

I am starting to gather parts for my winter motor build, going heads cam and am looking for a good set of heads. A stock set of 243 is my most budget friendly option, but would be willing to spend more if there is a used set of ported heads, or aftermarket castings. Let me know what you have.

243 heads came on most later 5.3 motors so they are readily available. don't pay more than $400 for a set of good ones.

I think the 243 heads mostly came on the aluminum 5.3's (L33) if I am not mistaken? and the run of the mill iron block 5.3's mostly came with like 862 or.. 706? castings? idk I could be wrong on that stuff.

243/799 are deff a good head if you can find them cheap enough.

I think the 243/799 came on a number of motors I think. The ls2, ls6, l33, and all of the 07+ 5.3 and 4.8 from what I found with a quick google. But there is also a decent demand, and a number of people think they are worth more than they are. id prefer not to have to ship them, so if I can find them local, I will buy them if the price is right.

oops should have probably thought out what I mean to type a little better, I was just referring to what types of 5.3's you'll mostly find them on, I know other engines ran those heads too, but your common junkyard 5.3 will most likely NOT have a 243/799 head on it, unless you are pretty lucky I think. that is one of the most common upgrades to people buying 5.3's
