Here is somewhere to buy them brand new still. Love it on my car. As long as you have the acts still on the car, it will sound awesome. When you remove the cats, you'll want to add a bullet muffler, or another chambered type muffler that the system is made with, it mellows out the rasp with no cats.

No concern, just grab a 24" bullet muffler, or an extra muffle the same style as the madhammer exhaust, and it tones down the rasp great. Google GMMG rasp fix or GMMG bullet fix, and there is alot of info on LS1Tech about it, i love the way mine sounds with long tubes and ORY, with the added bullet, got mine for a great deal from newegg.com of all places.

Just FYI, I run a pair of Magnaflow 59559 cats on my car and the GMMG did not rasp when I had tips on it. At the time they ran ~$80 each but they may be more now. Believe it or not the tips play a huge role in rasp, take them off and it gets much worse.

Thanks for the tip (hah). To be honest, I have no idea what this rasp sounds like, and struggle to find a YouTube video that shows it.

The GMMG will have a good aggressive sounding slight raspiness all the time. When done wrong its an obnoxious jackhammer like rasp.

Welp, just ordered from Mad Hammer! Great they have an option to not get tips, since I'll be putting Corsa Clones on.

Regarding the muffler, after reading up a little, sounds like the Powerstick is the best way to go for rasp reduction?

Y pipe merge quality plays a big role as well. A good merge will rasp less. There are really a ton of options to cut down on it.

2. Weld a flowmaster merge (or equivalent) into my ORY.

Yes? Figure I mine as well get the cutting and welding all done before installing

That is the exact bullet muffler i went with on my setup, and it helped alot. I mainly did it because of cost, as the powerstick was twice the price, and i had paypal funds that needed to be used, and newegg took them.

I would say one or the other with just headers, both with a cam.

Thats my car when I had it, had some high flow cats and a Flowmaster 4" merge on it. No problems with rasp but I would try and avoid the cats if I had to do it again. Start without a resonator in the I-pipe, then if it's needed throw one in there, its fairly simple to do after the fact.
