  • Wanted ASAP - 3800 series 2 or 3 short block

Everyone was right, I spun a rod bearing. Time for a replacement.

I may be able to help. I'm at the crossroads of getting rid of all my 3800 parts. I do have a short block that is still assembled, but it would need to be gone through.
I also have an entire engine kit (hypereutectic pistons and all), a spare prepped block with new bearings pressed in, but not sure what your looking to spend.

Throw some numbers at me. I want the car on the road asap, but I do plan on boosting the car in the future. Why don't you let me know everything you have with prices and we can deal.

Used Short Block: $100 - From F-body car, said to run before I got it, but should be cleaned and double checked.

Engine Kit: $300 Ordered through Northern Auto Parts, kit cost $800. Has Hyperutectic pistons and rings, roller cam and lifters, Oil Pump, and misc other pieces. Bearings are there, most are good except one rod bearing. For VIN K engines (my app was FWD). I'll have to look back at my paperwork, but I know they are oversized pistions, when I had the spare block bored. I think .020 or .030.

VIN K Spare Block - $150 - Machined, ready to go. New frost plugs, new cam bearings already installed from above engine kit, new counter balance shaft bearings installed as well.

VIN K Heads - $150 - Machined, rebuilt with guides, seals and ready to bolt on an engine. Still in plastic bags from the machine shop.
VIN K Crank - $75 - Machined ready to bolt in. Still in plastic bags from the machine shop.
Timing Cover W/new oil pump & water pump - but for FWD applications - may need to check compatiblity with oil filter adapter.

I'd like to sell the block/kit as a package and clean my garage rather than piece it out, but let me know.
If I had ONE good rod, you could easily re-assemble the fresh block etc. It's why I bought the other short block assembly - only for the rods. Just never got around to it. The above cost me over $2100 when it was all said and done in machinework etc. Because of a poopy machinist - one rod forced me to remove everything after 700 miles, re-check, and re-clean. It's now in cardboard boxes and ziplock bags.

If you want photos, I can give you those as well.

On am I understanding this correctly? Do you have 2 separate engines? Can you text me at 616-644-5482?

                Consider the $100 one sold.
