Wanted: 1990 IROC-Z for a project

Therein lies the dilemma. A $2000 clapped out POS will take more than $5000 to get up to the quality of a $7000 car. A $7000 car is such a better car to start with, but unless it has paint issues it's a shame to start sanding on perfectly good paint.

I mean.. it looks like it needs repainted.. but looks solid.. and if the interior is good.. might be worth it.. that's why I said you would need more detailed pics.

I went and looked at it and it looks great from 10 feet away but the paint is peeling and it's in need of a full restoration. Great candidate and all the parts are there. Asking $8900 on Craigslist. Told me $9000 when I got there and won't go below $8300. He's out of his mind with that price for the condition.

I think I need to expand my search to 1991-1992 Z28. 1990 IROCs are just so rare. It has the dash/cluster I want. I don't want the 1991-1992 hood, splitter and side skirts, but those can be easily changed.

And of course the cars are going to be vastly different in condition at those ranges.........What are your plans for this car? Knowing that might help us determine whether or not what we find would suit your needs/wants.

Good candidate but I'm not driving that far to be disappointed again.

I know I'm all over the board. Money isn't the issue. I would love to find a $2500 car that's clean with a blown engine or peeling paint. I would rather buy a very nice $6000-$7000 car to start with. I want it to look immaculate when it's done and I don't want to be working on something that is greasy and rusted.

The car will be getting a complete custom paint job, interior re-do and LS swap. Nut and bolt complete restoration is likely.

1. It's an RS.
2. There is no price, which in my experience means it's so ridiculous they don't want to post it.
3. It's at GR auto gallery which based on other things I've seen from them #2 is true.
