  • In search of: 400 Block

    Looking for a small-block Chevy 400 block.

  • #2
I have a 511 casting 1970-1973 block. This casting is a 4 bolt casting number, however, some replacement blocks were two bolts. This block is a two bolt, so its rare for a 511 i guess.

I have the block and original rotating assy, balancer and flexplate.

I have a couple questions if you don't mind. What did it come out of? I looked up the casting number on google, is this it?:
3951511....400...70-73...4...Some replacement blocks had 2-bolt main caps
Is there a block suffix code? And finally, what are you looking to get for it?

      Thanks

I don't know what it came out of Mostly they put them in trucks from what I understand... it was (like all 400's) a 2barrel.

That's the casting number As you can see it's one of those "replacement blocks" (im assuming a warranty service block?)

I'm not actively trying to sell it, but everything is for sale at the right price.

        PM me an offer.

          400 small block for sale

i have on for sale, i do not know any of the #'s off the block, but it is a 400 i am sure it came out of a 1 ton late 70's truck! got it from a buddy, it is still at his house, i can pick it up if any one is interested!
please call 616-644-0616, i do not check board much so please call if remotely interested. my block i s a 4 bolt main block, i guess the 2 bolt blocks are better, as every one wants them to splay the main caps!
splayed caps are stronger but i have never broke a crank.
mine would need some machine work, bored etc.
          thanks,
          Brad

Im can get the GM 400CI BLOCKS

I can get you a 400ci block, a two bolt or a four bolt.. I would recument the two bolt, Its stronger than the 4 bolt that they put out, But let me now price from $275.00 and higher just let me now witch one you want, These are getting to be a little expensive..
