  • 1965 bonneville inner fender, 421 engine, pontiac wire wheels

Im trying to find a right front inner fender for a 1965 bonneville, if you have one or know some one who might, please let me know. I can usually find things but this is gonna be the death of me.

Also incase anyone knows who or where I might be able to find a pontiac 421 engine that would make my day.

Lastly I believe there were factory wire 15" wheels made in the mid to late 60's for the b bodys, I would love a set of the wire wheels as well

I do not wish to be the one who bursts your bubble, but the only "wire wheels" on GM cars at that time were just wheel covers. The last true wire wheels on a GM car before their re-introduction on the 1978 Cadillac Seville Elegante was probably the 1954 Cadillac Eldorado.

The wire hub caps weren't terribly popular at the time they were new, and they're highly sought after today, so I'd advise you to keep your jar of Vaseline handy if you do locate a set in good condition.

Tis a good question, Im the 3rd owner and both previous owners are 6 ft under so I cant really ask.... lol. Even if their not original to the car, they look good on it, Maybe I'll look into so 15" crager wires and that way I can get some real wide white walls for it. The bonneville is def my garage queen. I hate to take it out because parts are next to impssible to find for her

14-inchers turned out to be the standard wheel for the 1965 Bonnie. Please don't put wide whites on that car unless you a pimp with several crack whores. Wide whites were already trending out of style by 1956, were definitely out by 1960, and were just a bad memory by 1965. The best tires in 1965, used on the Cadillacs, Lincolns and Imperials, were pencil-thin triple-stripe white walls. 3/4" to a full 1" would probably be correct for your car.

I have 1" wide whites on it now, hard to come by for a reasonable price though

                  Keep the vaseline handy....

Going through my latest Hemmings, I'd try these guys...

Guy parting out a '65 Bonny...he's listing exterior fender parts, but worth a shot...

And if you want vintage looking wire wheels, look at the 15" vintage style Daytons. They will look like they belong there. The wider wheel the better.

And, yes, a 1" wide white would look great with these.

                  Good luck...

1" wide whites are probably correct to the car. If you want to be different I'd suggest a pencil red or blue stripe, but that's just me. I agree with Dayton wire wheels as Jeff suggested, nothing better.

Jeff gave you some great sources and here's a couple more from the most recent Smoke Signals...........

Another good reason to join the widetrackers, old guys with piles of parts. I'll ask around and see what I can help you with. Do you have your bonne PHS documented?

Except in order to join the Widetrackers, you have to join POCI...but with a '65 Bonny, it's probably worth it...

Not really, if the Widetrackers have modified their by-laws the POCI will now let people join the local chapter without having to become a "National" member, right away (after 3yrs you have to then join the national club too).........Think of it as the POCI's way of getting people involved in the local chapters to see if they like it first.

Hmmm...that's not how it was explained to me two years ago at the POCI Davidson Pontiac Spring Dust Off.

But the Widetrackers can be pretty hard core here, so perhaps they're just adhering to "National" POCI standards...

Well if they are they're adhering to the old POCI standards....This is a change that was made to the POCI National by-laws about 2-3yrs ago.
