  • wtb: dip stick and tube, also looking for intake duct. gen 4 3.8

Hello guys, finally assembled my engine and I'm missing a few things . looking for a dipstick tube and dipstick. The previous owner cut the tube at the blok. The dealer as shows it's discontinued.no luck at the after market shops I tried.
Also looking for something to put between the air box and filter. Any ideas or parts are welcome. I have the tube the ait sensor plugs into. the rest is mia.
    Thanks.
Writing from my phone, sorry for short incorrect sentences.

I'm terribly sorry to inform you that a dipstick for a 3.8L camaro is by far, the hardest part to find. The ONLY way I was able to get one is by going on ebay and messaging the people who sold the dipstick its self and asking them for the tube too. Only got ONE person to respond.

Unless you can find a parts car somewhere, or you do what I did, I wish you the best of luck. Also, I don't quite understand what intake duct you're looking for? Perhaps a picture of what's missing will help.

Well the ebay guy who actually responded was like cool about it and is sending the tube and the dipstick together for like $30 I think. Doesn't matter, cause when my brother had his engine put in, the hack job who did it broke the dipstick and welded it back on. Well the guy also broke his EGR base, so when I replaced the base, I didn't have a welder to re-attach the tube to the EGR base. So the whole thing just fell out one day while he was driving around.

I wonder if you can make a CAI intake tube work for what you need. Maybe even a intake tube off of a 3.4L V6 from the earlier models?

well that stinks. Not sure what you mean by intake duct? Most air filters will have a beefy border around them so you won't need any other additional gaskets or anything. If I'm misunderstanding what part do you mean

Is that the spider web hanging down from the hood going down to the driver side headlight area?

I think any old CAI intake tubing from the parts store will work fine. You'll just need to pop a hole in one of them to put your intake air temperature sensor into the air stream.

Also may I ask where your car is? Looks like a GM dealership with those transmissoin guts setting there in the background I always find it interesting to see where people work on their cars at.
                        I'm guessing you're a technician there?

Also my brother has a full stock 98 3.8L engine that if you need pictures of anything let me know. I'm sure he isn't interested in selling off his intake tubes though

I'm a tech at Matthews Hargreaves Chevrolet in royal oak, my boss is pretty relaxed about working on your own vehicle as long as there's no other work. The spider nest started behind the light, I was putting the cradle back on and the impact woke them up, they somehow got a thread from the light up to the hood, they all climbed up, and onto the top of the hood, there were sooo many.
