Welcome to the Michigan FBody Association website.
The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. MiFbody.com was created to allow for an easy one-stop place to find out what's going on in Michigan as far as FBody events, to find out what clubs are available in your immediate area, and for an easy place to post classifieds for items you want to sell! Our goal was to create a more close-knit community of FBody enthusiasts in the state of Michigan, and to bring Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts alike together for some amazing FBody events!
The most important thing to know about the Michigan FBody Association is that we are NOT a club! The Michigan FBody Association is open to everyone, and is a community. Thus, we will have get togethers, casual cruises, events, and such like that, but this is not an exclusive club and it's 100% free to join this site! So what are you waiting for? Register now!

Anyone have a rear axle Torque Arm laying around for a 82 up Camaro?
Working on an 82, putting in an 85 rear end, but the car didn't come with the torque arm
Apparently 84 up is different, but hoping the rear end mounting is the same.
Also need rear torsion bar, aftermarket or OEM and related parts.

Auto or manual? The torque arm mounts are different for each. I'll assume manual since that's what is circled - 4th gen V6 manual mounts will fit the earlier T5. I have a couple stock torque arms in the corner - one from an 89 and the other from a 98

Whoops! I did circle the wrong one LOL. Fixed it!
It would be for an auto car. TH350 trans.

Just a heads up, th350 doesn't have provisions for the torque arm mount. B&M makes a bolt on conversion bracket, UMI/Spohn/etc make a trans crossmember with adjustable mounts
Thats what I was afraid of. He purchased an aftermarket cross member, but it doesn't appear to have provisions. I'll have to get photos from my co-worker... the car is 45 mins away from me.

I believe years ago i just used the tail housing off of the 700r4 on my turbo 350 short stile i think worked great only issues i had was i kept braking the cross member in half until it finally ripped the bolts right out if the frame .

If he's working on a 82, then it has a th350 and the tail shaft has a torque arm mount. They didn't have the 700r till 83 in f body's.
Finally got more information.
OK - He purchased an aftermarket Torque arm as well as a new crossover which was recently delivered.
We found that the new Aftermarket Torque Arm requires the 1985 UP clamshell.
We also purchased a conversion kit - that is specifically for using a TH350 in a 200R4 & 700R4 car.
BUT - it requires the 85 up clamshell.
So, if you have an 85 up clamshell (outer shell) you'd like to sell - please let me know.
We're putting the car together now that the weather is halfway decent. Over $1500 worth in just suspention goodies for the rear of the car. He's geeked, but we need to get the right parts to button it up.
Ok.... This freaking project is quickly becoming a pain in my A$$.
Still looking for the outer clamshell mount........
Ordered TWO GM Mounts made for 85 up F-bodies. NEITHER work.
Called B&M, and they didn't have a solution since this kit was made in the 80's.
The B&M Kit we purchased was B&M P/N 30299
The kit references to purchase either part number 10024028 (Manual transmission) or 10034259 (unknown. Auto?).
Because the 4259 part number did not show up on any of the parts list sheets, I ordered the 24065.
Annnnnddd..... since it's vintage parts, no returns. Thanks GM....
Here are the TWO that DO NOT WORK WITH an aftermarket torque arm bushing & B&M Kit to save somebody some time and money....
Bushing #1 GM P/N 10252375 Might work with a stock torque arm, but cannot fit an aftermarket bushing. 10252375_zps75132ef0.jpg
Bushing #2 GM P/N 10024065 - does not lign up at all with B&M TH350 changeover kit. GM10024065_zpse2aa0c40.jpg
If anyone has a photo of the 10034259 or a TH350 swap in a F-body with an aftermarket torque arm, could you please post a photo, or confirm that the 34259 bracket worked?
Any information would be helpful, since I'd really hate to buy yet another new GM bracket I can't use.
What does the end of the torque arm look like? The top outer shell looks correct to me (do you have the inner?) but you will have to burn out the rubber to use a polyurethane bushing though.
Edit: I'll have to look and see what I have out in the garage. I think I might an original out shell on the spare T5 I have. The 10252375 looks like the one I had on my 89 700r4. The had two different torque arms, one facing out and the other facing in.
The aftermarket torque arm terminates into a round tube. The round tube is designed to be inserted into a Poly bushing which is said to fit 85 up "Clamshell" outer mounts.
The inner mount plate is supposed to be the B&M conversion plate.
I believe this is how they want you to mount it, but the bushing won't fit.
