Wanted: LT1 oil pressure sending unit plug

So somehow during the process of taking my top end apart and putting it back together, I managed to sever the plug on my oil pressure sending unit:



As you can see, there's not enough wire sticking out of the plug for me to splice it back together with the wiring harness. Does anybody have a junk harness sitting around that I could cut this plug off of? Also, is this plug the same on V6 cars as on LT1s?

Just buy a new one Not expensive at all

If you really wanted to go cheap, pull the pins out and you should have enough wire to solder some leads on.

can you get just new plugs like that? The ones online looked like they had four wires coming from them, while this one looks like it had only one. I tried unsuccessfully to pull the pin out.

So I've hit a bit of a snag with the oil pressure sending unit. Turns out that the pigtail I got is for 1 wire/1 prong, but I need 1 wire/3 prongs. Seems rather strange to me that the sending unit would have 3 prongs, but only take a reading from one of them.

Both of those have the 3-wire connections. I need that same shape of plug itself, with a 1-wire connection.

Taking the original plug apart was the first thing I tried, but I couldn't figure out how to get the pin out of the plug.

So get the 3 wire and cut out the two wires that aren't needed.

The reason you are having trouble finding exactly what you want is because a lot of these pig tails are somewhat universal. For example that same 3 wire plug may end up working for some Buick Riviera that needs 3 wires and also works with just one wire for a Chevy Tahoe, etc.

But if they're universal, why wouldn't the Camaro be listed as being compatible? And when I do find what's apparently listed as being for the 1996 Camaro, why is mine different than others?

I'm not saying they are purely universal. Just saying they somewhat are. If you can use the 3 wire plug and not use two of the wires why not? I've had to do this before in other applications instead of going on a month long hunt for the right thing. I've never replaced one on my LT1 so I have no experience with that but I have been looking for you as well and have found nothing. Could you post a picture of the front of the plug? I've got some really good parts guys at my mom and pop part store. Maybe I can put them on the hunt for you and get you a pigtail.

Pop the back covet off the plug
then use a really thin pick, screw driver, terminal tool and lift the tap up through the front side. Will slid out the back
or Bring it to Oxford and I can do it
