97...you mean LT1? And call me a dumb third genner...but didn't the RS models come with 3.8 v6's?

Not a problem. Find a z06 cam or 04-06 LS2 cam and make sure it has the right wheel on the back...I think they are pretty much the same. Good luck with the swap! Not trying to patronize, it is a costly swap I don't know my LS motors that well these days since I've been building SBC's after gathering the parts for my 5.3

The LS2/LS6 cam is nothing like the hot cam.

If you are looking for something that makes decent power and has a good chop to it id go with the tried and true TR224. The bonus is I have one that I just pulled out of my car and the pushrods for it. Let me know if your interested.
          Idle clip.

Do you think he will want to spend $400 on a cam though?

Cheap, Fast, and Reliable. Pick 2.

Look in the used stuff. Cams are good used.
