Wanted!!! Someone to weld in subframe connectors on my 3rd gen!!!!!!

I am looking for someone who can weld my subframe connectors in for me, The cars frame is clean no rust. I want this done pretty soon before I pull the engine so I can drive it to whos ever place can do it. I know I can get bolt on ones but I already have the weld in ones brand new from my last car that I did not use.

I have some ready for my car as well, that BigJon and I are planning on welding ourselves. If you have access to a welder its really not that hard, we have been practicing welding recently but no where near "good" enough to offer one of us doing it for you. We are planning on doing mine shortly after we paint the car...

Just out of curiosity but why wait until after you paint the car? If you do it before you can paint the welds to match your car.

I took mine to a muffler shop. Charged me $90. I gave him $100.

Mine are a 4 piece though. 2 long ones and 2 short ones.

DIdnt even think about that.

I can weld just dont want to lay on my back and do it. If I had a lift I would be all over it. My dad actually was the welding instructor at our tech school in HS. Although I have not welded in a few years .

most shops have 2 post or 4 point lifts. With a weld in connecter you really want to have your car a drive on hoist or an alignment rack.

You thnk like a belle tire place would do it? I have to replace my whole front end anyways everything is old and worn so its going to need an alignemt anyways.

Welding on your back is easy. If you weren't so far away I would say bring it over and I'd do it for a case of beer.

Remember welding upside down gotta turn the regulator up more so the gas doesn't escape the weld as fast.

One of my buddies has a welding shop and he will do it I know for a fact. I will let you guys know what he says as far as price goes. He will be doing mine also. He welds awesome, and he is usually pretty fair on price. I am sure if we can line something up with a few cars he would go for it.

most shops have 2 post or 4 point lifts. With a weld in connecter you really want to have your car a drive on hoist or an alignment rack.

2 post lifts still work as far as raising the car. then you put 4x4 wood wheel stands under the tires and lower it onto them gives you about 2 foot to work around. and loads the suspension the same as being on the ground.

Ok, so I talked to my buddy that owns the welding shop yesterday. I told him that there are a few guys on this site that are looking to have their sfc's welded in, and that some of the guys are talking to muffler shops to get it done, and they are being quoted around $90-100. His response to that was, I can do it for a little more money, and do it right. The first thing he said is that he could do it for $125 depending on the condition of the car. He also stated that he would also be wiling to add more bracing for more money. When we were talking he was laying under my car, and looking at the spohn sfc's that will be going on my car. Pinting out the extra bracing that could be done very easily to our cars. If there is enough interest, he would be willing to build a set of stands to make sure the car is square since he doesn't have a lift in his shop. The job would only take a couple hours from start to finish, depending on the condition of the car. He did also say that he can patch up a lot if issues, since the third gen camaro's like to rust in the area where sfc's need to be placed.

So if your interested please let me know. this is one of my best friends for over 20 yrs. I trust him, and I have seen his work. Plus, he's a car guy that has had a few 3rd gen;s.

good post Andrew. I bought the spohn sfc because they are round and not rectangle. Mine tuck up really nice. And I must say I had mine done about 5 years ago. Gas and all might have went up. $125 seems like a good price.
You all have to ask around, where I took mine...he has done them in the past, and knows Fbodys. If Andrews buddy knows Fbodys...its worth the trip!
