  • Full LT1 A4 to M6 swap

Looking to m6 swap my 95 Z, instead of selling it I want to put her over 200k miles running strong! I am interested to see if anyone has EVERYTHING I would need to swap it over, or at least as close as possible. Don't post about you have this and that bits and pieces please, if I can't find the whole swap I'll bit the bullet and go with the one from Hawksthirdgenparts.com

I'm not looking to grab this up right away, I want to get an idea of the cost and if anyone even has anything. Then I'll take the loan out on my Z, as I have a few other things to fix on it as well.

I should have one available in a month or so. I have the t56 with shifter, bellhousing, flywheel, centerforce clutch and pressure plate, clutch fork, slave spacer, and slave cylinder. The unit has about 90k on it. Not sure what a fair price is for a setup like that. I can get more details when it's available.

In addition to what he mentioned you'll need a new engine harness, and you'll have to reprogram your PCM.

you can get around this.... kinda, i ran my t56 for a week or two with the auto wiring harness still in. the only reason you can do that is becuase the t56 doesnt run off electricity, it runs off hydraulics your foot and the contact made with the motor. but most defiantely want to get a harness and all......

Best suggestion is what i did. get a donor car a smashed t56 the same year as yours or as close as possible. and swap it all over. you will end up paying about the same

Everything I have read has said you can just rewire the car, no need for a new harness. But you will have to have an m6 computer or have it flashed for a 6 speed car.

im not an electrician.. but seems to me like it'd be eaiser to just swap the harness...

Best is get a harness, without it you'll not have Reverse lockout, and backup lights, and probably the speed sensor for speedometer. Worst is Reverse lockout without it going to 5th gear is kinda scary. No speed shift to 5th.

Reverse lights will work, and so will the reverse lockout if you wire it up properly. There is the whole thing on LS1Tech about it, it's about equally as hard to do with the m6 or auto harness. I'm sure the m6 harness would take less time to wire up though.

Did the conversion on my Z28 without buying a new harness and the reverse lockout, backup lights and speedometer all work. It is quite easy if you are willing to swap a few pins and change pigtails.

There is a good write-up with a lot of pictures that explains what needs to be done with the current harness. http://www.afrashteh.com/tranny_pics/T56.htm

Ty Joel, I'm in no real hurry to pick it up but do want to try and get it all setup. I'm so sick of an auto car now it's no fun!. But with my bonus a set of OE wheels is in order too.
