Make sure your water pump is not leaking coolant into the Opti. I once had a 1994 Cadillac Fleetwood with the same LT1 as the Impala SS aand went through a remanufactured Opti about every 3000 miles like clock work until I bit the bullet and bought a brand new GM Performance Part Opti from Summit Racing. Never had an Opti replaced after that. At least I can change an Opti in a very short amount of time now.

FYI I put in a Chandler opti and have had great success with it in the 4000 miles I have put on it. $90 for it.

I agree the OEM opti is the best, i hear all the time about MSD or accel optis going bad. I just replace mine with a OEM after getting my old one wet.

i have an opti laying around. i dotn know if it works or not tho.. it was from a wrecked 94 z28. my guess is that its fine, but no guranatees. its yours if you pay for shipping.

I kept a Chandler opti for a spare that I used a few times and it worked great. For $100 bucks I would give it a shot. I currently use a Dynaspark and I would recommend that if you want to spend the money. But as often as you are replacing them you definitely have another issue to fix.

Im saying its the Opti because its doing the EXACT same things it did before when my Mechanic said it was the Opti, and last time I changed everything else, o2 sensors, thermostat, Ignition control module, ignition coil, MAP sensor, Intake air temp sensor, air intake boot, you name it its most likely new lol. Im thinking of just dumping the car, been a total money pit, put 4 grand into it in the last year. If I do just dump it, I may just buy your opti for 90 bucks, put it in, and slap a for sale sign on it. I just cant justify pouring money into the car with no end in sight. I'll keep your offer in mind, gotta decide within a week what I'm gonna do.

Oh, my bad lol, thanks. I guess since I always get prices of 4 to 6 hundred dollars for a Opti, I never for a second thought you could get a new one for 90 bucks Yesterday, I was talking to a guy and he asked me if I needed the whole Opti or just the cap and rotor? It was a price difference of like 400 dollars more for the "Whole" opti.? Whats the difference and what do I need? Never had anyone ask me that before?

Chandler has kind of a bad name attached to it, but IMO its the person installing it rather than the part its self. Many people have had great success with Chandler parts.

The way I look at it, if we can get after market electronics that are quite technical...dont tell me that GM is the only one that can produce an opti spark- a device designed in the late 80's.

I run an MSD, it grenaded itself within 1000 miles after installation, rotor came off and destroyed the whole unit. JB weld and loctite are your friend.

$90 for a new part not reconditioned is cheap if it works. I spent over $150 from Murray's for a reman Opti.

I have a GM opti with MSD cap and rotor,500 miles on it..asking 300.00 obo..

Was it within a year? If so you should have been able to warranty it. Mine old one had 4k with no issues.
