Put a 3.73 in mine (was 2.74) made a huge difference. Then came the 2800 converter and the handheld tune. Really ran hard. When in doubt, Whip it out !

Go with SLP AAM gears. They are known for being the quietest gear out there. lmperformance.com had them last time I checked

Hawks third gen parts has the floor mats for 97/2002 firehawks u mite be able to finde them on the firehawk website as well. Motive gears are just as good and just as quiet as AAM I have had both types in my car you can't tell a difference.sigpic1997 firehawk # 115 6 speed. Its just a little ole LT1

You might have gotten lucky with your set, but motive are known for being noisy gears. I've seen lots of set up perfectly and whine like crazyOriginally posted by 97firehawk View PostHawks third gen parts has the floor mats for 97/2002 firehawks u mite be able to finde them on the firehawk website as well. I got AAM gears from DTS in Warren. They said that the AAM gears would be quieter than the Motives. Motives will be slightly stronger due to the way they are ground but they will probably make more noise too. depends on what you want. When in doubt, Whip it out !

I have always heard that Motives are known to be on the quiet side. Richmonds on the other hand are know to howl like a banshee.Originally posted by my95z28 View PostYou might have gotten lucky with your set, but motive are known for being noisy gears. Well I got the gears taken care of, but the mats are another matter. I've checked SLP's website and I can't find them listed anywhere. I wish I had the money to buy them when they were still up. I've been checking all the sites I can think of for em, but no luck. I did check hawks third gen and they sold the last set of mats they had out of a salvage hawk, but they were the wrong color anyway.
