  • In need of bad tires for winter storage

Looking to see if anyone has some 17" tires that they are throwing out because they are bald, or taking up space.....I just need something to store the car on this winter so i don't have to use the new wheels/tires i just put on. I have a set of spare wheels, with 17x9 fronts that need bald tires......rears i have taken care of. So if anyone has any or knows of anybody that has some 275/40/17's, or i think some 245/50/17's? anything that will mount to a 17x9 and hold air....the car won't be driven, just pulled in and out of the garage on them.

Also does anyone know a buddy that will mount hese for dirt cheap on the side at a tire shop around Clinton Twp.? No balance, just quick mount them..15 minutes to do all 4, real easy.

    Thanks,
    Jason

if your real worried about it sitting on the tires just set it up on blocks so the tires of barely off the ground but make sure it it supported on the suspension... that would be your best bet rather then swapping out tires now and in the spring

Agreed with Sean - but obviously a bit more work when you want to move the car. Or buy wheel dollies at HF.

I need it to be mobile, so on jack stands doesn't work for me at all, too much hassle. I have a spare set of wheels, i mentioned that in the OP. I have 18" Z06 wheels on it now, and have a set of 17" black ZR1's for winter wheels. I got a set of used 315's for the rears rims as they are 11's, just need a set for the front 9" wheels.

          Thanks

Dollies might work, but would require 2 people to move the car around, and would cost way more than a junk set of front tires at this point. With bald tires, i can just drive the car in and out of the garage as needed.

My garage is a 2 1/2 garage up front, with a 1 1/2 on the back, where the Camaro will be, so for working on the car, i want to be able to move it around and spin it around as needed, or it would be up on jack stands. Just need the mobility.

Thanks guys for the help, hopefully something pops up and someone has tires sitting in the corner they just want out of the way.

I drove on them for 2 months

Located in Madison Heights prolly could set them out for you or work something out.

why can't you just leave your 18s on? you aren't going to hurt your tires just letting the car sit a few months..

5 or 6 months sitting on the MT ET Street radials could leave flat spots(very soft rubber), plus by storing them, i wipe them down with tire wet and bag them to prevent drying out also. Just cheap insurance that the tires last.

I have 18" Z06 wheels on it for summer, with the MT ET Street radials on them.

                      For winter wheels i have 17" black ZR1 wheels....9's and 11's
I have the 315's for the rear....old used road race tires. I need something to mount on the 17x9 fronts to sit on this winter.

Better now? Sorry but i thought i was clear in all my posts as to what i needed and had.
