  • Looking for a sled

    Hey guys,

Its time to start gearing up for the winter and I need a sled. Anybody have any or know of any? I am trying to sell/trade my 2up for a single. I already found my girlfriend a sled so now I need one. I have a 2002 Yamaha Venture 700 triple. Its in great shape with maybe 1800 miles. Anybody know a good place to look for sleds? I've looked around on craigslist but haven't found anything worth while. Let me know what you have!

Awesome, I will do that. I can't fathom riding this beast for another season.

I've noticed used sleds are keeping better values now since the new ones are so much now. I found my last sled F6 SP on CL and it has been a great sled. You just have to keep looking till what you want shows up. What type of sled are you looking to buy?

I would like an 03 and up Cat. F5,6,7 etc. But I am open to ideas. My back is pretty f'd up so the newer sleds with the better suspension would be nice.

F5 is going to be too small but you can find them in great shape for under 2900. I love my 04 F6 but I am not a big fan of screaming down the trails at Mach1 I prefer tight technical trail riding it separates the skilled riders from the not so skilled. The F6 is not geared to run at 100mph for long periods of time. Anything newer then 05 cats went to the Diamond drive systems most of my die hard cat friends told me to avoid them. They are expansive if you have a failure. If I could have found an F7 in my price range when I bought my sled I would have gotten that. The Firecat motors seem to be extremely solid the only worries are a failure in the drive bearings or jack shaft bearings. MY sled has 4000 miles and my buddies has 4600 miles both are still on original motors and original drive and jack bearings. I tear my skid out and also go through my clutches every year.

I also have an 07 Yamaha Vector GT and love this sled. If I am going on a long ride I jump on this sled the 4 stroke is so quiet and the ride is meant for long periods of riding. The only thing I have done to the Yamaha is added duece bars to fix the skies from darting. This sled is just fun but not designed for jumping thus the reason I have the F6.

I'm a pretty small guy so the F5 isn't that bad. My dad has an 04 F5 SnoPro and it gets down.

I'm 6'5 215 lbs and I drive an 04 SaberCat 600 (same as F6) and it is the funnest sled I have ever driven. It has no problems at high speeds and is certainly not too small. (I also had my handlebars raised for a more comfortable ride)

Our family owns an F7, Sabercat 600 and Sabercat 700. Great luck with all of them, I couldn't even fathom riding that boat around that you are trying to sell lol.

Its actually not that bad. It has plenty of power to get out of its own way and with the longer track it goes through deep snow without a problem. I regularly beat my brother and buddy when we are hill climbing and they have a viper 700 and a formula Z 670. I have had that boat going 110+ with passenger.

I always wanted a SX Viper or a MXZ Rev 600. Just something newer and comfy.
