Firebird headlight gear

Hey guys and girls Im looking for a pop up headlight gear, yeah the one that goes bad and grinds. Ive done the swap of the gear and it still does it. I know I can get a brass one from someone around here but $50 is quite high for me right now. So if anyone has a oem nylon one or knows where I might be able to find one , please help. The grinding is so embarrassing and loud.

wish i could help, best bet would pry be ebay or junkyard, im just happy mine hasnt had problems yet, *knocks on wood*

I guess I could try a junk yard, but they are just so hard to get to.

I've got a couple from an 87 Fiero..I know they were the same as the 3rg gen birds were. Did they change them on the 4th gens?

Hmm you tried flipping the gear? It didnt work? Did you actually take the motor apart and spin it or manually?

Im not sure if they changed from that year. If you are going to be at the car show at woodys on friday maybe you can bring one and let me see and maybe we can work something out if its the right one. yes I actually took the motor apart and tried to turn it. It worked for a couple days and started again. Looks like it had already been done before i owned it.

oh thats shitty, when i did mine i didn't even have to take the motor apart, Good Luck!

mine has just started doing this, it only makes noise on one of the headlights when its going down, up is fine. it grinds for about 10 seconds pretty loud then stops, is this it?

Yeah thats it. mines only on one side also and it grinds going down. it also wont allow me to run with my fogs on unless the lights are flipped up, which sucks.

I'm gonna try to dig those Fiero motors out quick before I head to the show tonight for ya. They might still be attached to the Fiero headlight buckets! I'll have to quick pull em apart.
